While
the overall number of international arrivals saw a slight decline of 0.6%
compared to the same period in 2024, April alone recorded a strong 8%
year-on-year increase, with 3.9 million foreign visitors.
Istanbul,
the country’s cultural and economic hub, retained its status as Türkiye’s top
tourism destination, welcoming 50.4% of all foreign travellers—approximately
5.34 million people in the first four months.
Following
Istanbul, the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya and the northwestern border
province of Edirne—which neighbours Bulgaria and Greece—ranked among the most
visited destinations.
In
terms of visitor nationalities, Germany led the way with a 10.8% share of all
foreign tourists, followed by Russia and Iran.
These
figures reflect both Türkiye’s enduring global appeal and the country’s
resilience as a premier year-round travel destination.
