Six
years ago, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the umbrella
organization and association of over 300 airlines worldwide, launched the
“25by2025” target to improve diversity, equality and inclusion in the aviation
industry. More than 200 aviation companies have committed to this goal.
Michael
Niggemann, Member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG responsible
for Human Resources & Legal Affairs: “We are delighted to have increased
the proportion of women in management positions across the Group to over 25
percent. Admittedly, this is still too little - the steps are sometimes small
and somewhat laborious, but that is precisely why they are particularly
important and necessary. The goal is and remains sustainable development
without gender discrimination. We are particularly proud of the impressive
growth in the field of technology. We will now continue to consistently pursue
the path we have taken - through talent promotion programs and guidelines on
the visibility of female candidates in the application process. We want to and
will exploit the full potential of talented junior staff.”
The
proportion of female managers in the three top management levels below the
Executive Board in the Lufthansa Group is 25.3 percent. To increase the number
of female managers, the Lufthansa Group launched a global program for women in
management positions.
