Digital travel platform Agoda is spotlighting some of
Asia’s most colorful night markets, presenting them as key cultural experiences
for travelers exploring the region. The curated selection brings together
destinations known for their atmosphere, local cuisine and distinctive
character, offering insights into everyday life after dark.
Night markets as cultural meeting points
According to Agoda, night markets go beyond shopping
and serve as social and cultural hubs. Visitors can experience regional
traditions, sample local dishes and discover handcrafted goods in settings
shaped by local communities.
From historic districts to modern city streets, these
markets provide a direct connection to the cultural identity of each
destination.
Diverse destinations across Asia
The selection includes markets from Southeast Asia,
South Asia and East Asia, each with its own focus and atmosphere.
In Malacca, the Jonker Street Night Market combines
heritage architecture with a lively street food scene, while in Yogyakarta, the
Pasar Malam reflects Javanese culture through cuisine, crafts and live
performances.
Johari Bazaar in Jaipur stands out for traditional
jewelry and textiles, offering insights into long-established craftsmanship. In
Hong Kong, Temple Street Night Market blends street performances, fortune
tellers and a wide range of goods.
Hanoi Night Market, located in the Old Quarter, is
known for its street food and handmade products, while Chiang Mai Night Bazaar
offers a relaxed setting with a focus on Thai handicrafts such as silver
jewelry and textiles.
In Manila, Divisoria Night Market attracts visitors
with its wide product range and lively atmosphere, reflecting the energy of the
Philippine capital.
Authentic experiences beyond daytime tourism
Andrew Smith, Senior Vice President Supply at Agoda,
says: “Night markets bring together many of the things travelers enjoy most
about visiting Asia, including local food, street life, and small independent
vendors. They offer a relaxed way to explore a destination after dark and often
become one of the most memorable parts of a trip. At Agoda, we love helping
travelers discover these destinations and create unforgettable memories with
great deals on our extensive range of accommodations, flights and activities.”
Broad travel offering supports trip planning
Agoda supports travel planning with a portfolio of
more than 6 million accommodation options, over 130,000 flight routes and more
than 300,000 activities. These can be combined within a single booking,
allowing travelers to organize complete trips through one platform.
