Tourexpi
Far
more than a floating hotel, the QE2 represents a living testament to design
excellence, maritime history, and British craftsmanship.
Launched
by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 20 September 1967, the QE2 was celebrated
as a triumph of modern shipbuilding, renowned for its bold interior aesthetics.
From the geometric elegance of the Midships Lobby to the avant-garde ceiling of
the Queens Room, the ship's design reflected innovation and intentional beauty
throughout. As The Times remarked in 1969, “a lot of care went into our new
floating showrooms” — a nod to the ship’s collaborative creation by leading
British designers.
Now
permanently docked at Mina Rashid, Dubai, the QE2 welcomes visitors to
rediscover this remarkable vessel through expertly guided QE2 Heritage Tours.
Guests walk the same corridors once graced by royalty, dignitaries, and
cultural icons, exploring original furnishings, curated artworks, the preserved
engine room, and even the ship's historic bridge.
The
QE2 remains a timeless expression of British maritime design and storytelling.
As Dubai continues to expand its cultural and heritage landscape, the QE2
offers a unique and immersive glimpse into seafaring history — anchored in the
past, yet curated for today’s discerning traveller.
