EVA Air Launches Washington DC Service, Expanding North American Access to Thailand

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has welcomed the launch of EVA Air's new scheduled service between Washington Dulles International Airport and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, further expanding air connectivity between North America and Thailand. The new route provides travelers from the U.S. capital region with a convenient one-stop connection to Bangkok and other destinations across the kingdom via Taipei.

Operating since 26 June 2026, the new service reinforces EVA Air's growing North American network and supports Thailand's strategy of attracting high-value long-haul visitors through improved international accessibility.

New gateway strengthens connectivity

The Washington DC–Taipei route operates four times a week with a flight time of approximately 15 to 16 hours. Through EVA Air's hub in Taipei, passengers can connect seamlessly to Bangkok as well as destinations throughout Thailand served by the airline and its partners.

During the Summer 2026 schedule, EVA Air operates up to 32 weekly flights between Bangkok and Taipei, with a journey time of around four hours. The carrier also offers direct services from Taipei to Chiang Mai and Phuket, providing convenient access to Northern and Southern Thailand.

"The new Washington DC–Taipei service strengthens one-stop access to Thailand from an important U.S. gateway," said Chompu Marusachot, Director of the TAT New York Office. "For TAT, air connectivity is central to long-haul market development, helping turn destination interest into travel while reaching quality visitor segments seeking culture, wellness, nature, gastronomy, and meaningful experiences across Thailand."

EVA Air expands its North American network

The new route is operated by a 278-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner featuring Royal Laurel Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class.

With the addition of Washington DC, EVA Air now serves ten destinations across North America, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Chicago, Vancouver and Toronto.

TAT focuses on high-value tourism

The expanded air service supports TAT's long-haul marketing strategy for North America, which prioritises quality tourism over visitor volume. Under its "Value over Volume" approach, the tourism board aims to attract travelers seeking longer stays and authentic experiences while promoting responsible tourism and a broader distribution of visitors throughout the country.

Through its "Healing is the New Luxury" campaign, TAT positions Thailand as a year-round destination offering wellness, culture, gastronomy, nature and meaningful local experiences that benefit both visitors and host communities.
