According
to new research by Marella Cruises, over 60% of UK residents are planning an
overseas summer holiday this year. However, the cost of living remains a
concern, with one in five (20%) saying it is preventing them from booking a
trip abroad.
To
support cost-conscious travellers, Marella Cruises has introduced a free online
tool that highlights the potential savings of booking an all-inclusive cruise.
The All Inclusive Cruise Calculator allows users to compare typical travel
costs with what’s included in a Marella all-inclusive cruise — such as flights,
food and drink, transfers, entertainment, tips, and service charges — showing
clearly where and how savings can be made.
Despite
the benefits, only 22% of Brits believe an all-inclusive cruise offers the best
value compared to other holiday types. However, nearly half (46%) say they
would be more open to a cruise if it were easier to compare total costs,
indicating a growing demand for transparency and clarity.
The
data also revealed gaps in awareness:
·
62% of respondents said they don’t
fully understand what an all-inclusive cruise entails
·
51% did not know that flights are
included
·
71% were unaware that transfers are
typically covered
Marella’s
new tool addresses these knowledge gaps by breaking down what’s included in the
fare and helping travellers see the overall value of a cruise holiday.
Travel
expert Chelsea Dickenson, known as the Cheap Holiday Expert, endorsed the
calculator, stating:
“All-inclusive
holidays are back in fashion, with searches for stress-free escapes up 60%
year-on-year. And it’s not just resorts – cruise holidays are set to exceed
pre-pandemic levels, with 37.1 million passengers forecasted in 2025. But
prices are rising, with average package holidays now 4.2% more expensive than
last year.
For
cruises, hidden costs can include flights, transfers, meals, drinks, and tips —
but cruise lines like Marella include all of that as standard. Their calculator
is a really helpful way to see exactly what you get and how much you could save
when it’s all bundled together.”
Chris
Hackney, Managing Director at Marella Cruises, added:
“Our
new All Inclusive Cruise Calculator demonstrates the value we offer. With
all-inclusive at the heart of our cruise holidays, we provide a seamless
experience that combines flights, transfers, accommodation, entertainment,
food, drink, and service — all in one price. We hope this tool will help
customers who are new to cruising consider it as an exciting and cost-effective
alternative for their next holiday.”
