Tourism is supporting the event, highlighting the powerful role of music and
tourism in fostering dialogue, cultural exchange, and sustainable development.
With
the theme “The Rumba Route for Peace,” the festival will explore how music
connects cultures, strengthens communities, and opens economic opportunities.
It also supports national efforts to promote cultural heritage, expand the
creative economy, and build peace through cultural expression.
Celebrating
Rumba, Innovation, and Heritage
At
the heart of the event is Congolese Rumba—inscribed on UNESCO’s list of
Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2021—highlighting its role in shaping identity
and attracting cultural tourism. The festival forms part of broader initiatives
to link Africa’s cultural assets to inclusive growth and cross-cultural
dialogue.
A
Three-Day Cultural Celebration
Hosted
at the Central African Cultural and Arts Centre (CCAPAC), the festival
programme includes:
Roundtables
on:
·
Musical diplomacy for peace
·
Copyright and fair remuneration for
artists
·
Music as a tool for destination
branding
·
Youth and digital innovation in the
creative sector
·
Cultural Village and Exhibition Centre
·
Performances by Congolese and
international artists
·
A "Fair Play" Masterclass
for musicians and entrepreneurs
·
A Rumba-themed welcome, gala dinner,
and cultural tours
Minister
of Tourism, H.E. Mr. Didier M’Pambia Musanga, emphasised:
“The
Festival will unite voices to explore how music shapes lives, stimulates
economic opportunity, and—through innovation and technology—fosters deeper
connections among people.”
A
Platform for Dialogue and Collaboration
The
event will gather representatives from governments, international
organisations, private sector partners, and civil society. Confirmed partners
include UNESCO, ARIPO, Sony Music Entertainment, Sound Diplomacy, and cultural
leaders from Africa, Latin America, and Europe.
UN
Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili stated:
“Music
speaks to everyone. This Festival is an opportunity to honour Congolese
creativity while advancing local development, regional cooperation, and global
understanding. UN Tourism proudly supports this initiative, which reflects the
shared power of tourism and culture to build bridges, promote peace, and unlock
new possibilities.”
Everyone
Is Welcome
Open
to the public, professionals, and young people alike, the World Music and
Tourism Festival invites all to discover how music and tourism can come
together to inspire unity and positive change. From powerful performances to
meaningful policy discussions, the event is a celebration of culture’s role in
shaping a more connected and peaceful world.
