IHG
Hotels & Resorts has officially introduced its LINE MiniApp in Japan,
making it easier for guests to book hotels and connect with the IHG One Rewards
program through one of Asia’s most widely used messaging platforms.
LINE
is a dominant communication tool across Asia, with 195 million monthly active
users in countries such as Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, and Indonesia. In Japan
alone, over 90% of individuals aged 13 to 79 use LINE, making it a key channel
for digital engagement.
With
this new MiniApp, users in Japan can now book stays at IHG hotels worldwide
directly within the LINE app. In addition, they can access their IHG One
Rewards account, simplifying the process of joining and managing their
membership.
Key
features of the IHG LINE MiniApp include:
·
Direct hotel bookings: Users can
search and reserve stays at more than 6,600 IHG hotels around the globe.
·
One-click membership registration: New
members can join IHG One Rewards instantly using their LINE credentials.
·
Streamlined member experience: Guests
can check their points balance, track membership status, and redeem points
without leaving the app.
·
Partner point integration: Users can
manage points from partner programs such as Rakuten Points and ANA Mileage
Club.
This
launch marks an important milestone in IHG’s digital strategy, combining hotel
reservations, loyalty benefits, and exclusive offers within one integrated
platform.
Abhijay
Sandilya, CEO of IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan and Managing Director of IHG Hotels
& Resorts Japan & Micronesia, commented:
“IHG
Hotels & Resorts has invested significantly in our digital ecosystem to
provide more options for guests when booking across our global portfolio. LINE
is the leading digital platform in Japan, and this MiniApp allows us to connect
with guests through a channel they already know and trust.”
To
celebrate the launch, IHG has released a set of limited-edition LINE stickers,
available for download until August 25.
Following
the enhancement of IHG’s official LINE account in April 2024, the brand has
seen steady subscriber growth, reaching over 1.2 million followers by July
2025.
IHG
continues to focus on digital innovation and customer engagement, evolving its
services in line with the expectations of today’s travelers.
