These
additions bring Emirates’ East Asia network to 23 destinations, underscoring
Bangkok’s growing role as a key regional hub for both leisure and trade.
The
inaugural flights—EK370 to Da Nang on 2 June and to Siem Reap on 3 June—were
welcomed with traditional water cannon salutes and formal ceremonies attended
by government officials, airport executives, and Emirates senior leadership.
Both
routes are operated using the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER wide-body aircraft,
offering Emirates’ award-winning service and a seamless travel experience via
Dubai, Bangkok, and onward to the new destinations.
Strategic
Gateway and Seamless Travel
Nabil
Sultan, Executive Vice President, Passenger Sales and Country Management,
commented:
“Launching
these two new routes via Bangkok is a milestone in Emirates’ commitment to
deepening its presence in Southeast Asia. Travellers now benefit from seamless
three-destination connectivity on a single ticket—Dubai, Bangkok, and either Da
Nang or Siem Reap.”
The
launch further affirms Thailand’s pivotal role as a regional gateway, supported
by close cooperation with local authorities, airports, and tourism partners.
Trade,
Tourism, and Bilateral Growth
The
new route to Da Nang marks Emirates’ third destination in Vietnam, joining Hanoi
and Ho Chi Minh City. With 25 weekly flights to Vietnam, Emirates now provides
critical air links for high-value exports such as electronics, textiles, and
perishables. The airline’s operations are bolstered by recent partnership
agreements with Vietnam Airlines, VietJet, and Sun Group.
In
Cambodia, Emirates’ new Dubai–Bangkok–Siem Reap service runs three times per
week, complementing the existing daily Phnom Penh route via Singapore. The
carrier now operates 10 weekly flights to Cambodia, enhancing access to both
leisure and business travel markets.
These
developments are expected to accelerate cross-border tourism and trade in
alignment with Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) signed
between the UAE and both Vietnam and Cambodia.
Bangkok’s
Role as a Regional Aviation Hub
The
new routes were celebrated at a cake-cutting ceremony in Emirates’ newly
renovated lounge at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, now the largest Emirates
lounge outside Dubai. The event reaffirmed Bangkok’s significance in the
airline’s expansion strategy.
Emirates’
Southeast Asia growth is being driven by rising travel demand, strengthened
bilateral relations, and robust cooperation with regional tourism bodies and
governments. With continued investment in connectivity, the airline is
well-positioned to support economic development and tourism across the region.
