The airline Eurowings has started 2025 with a strong performance and high customer satisfaction. Of the 27,000 flights operated in the first quarter, more than 85 percent reached their destination on time. Eurowings achieved a regularity rate of over 98 percent. Without the series of strikes in the public sector, which saw the Verdi union bring German airports to a standstill for days, Eurowings would have even achieved a record figure of 99.5 percent. Customer satisfaction, measured using the Net Promoter Score (NPS), rose to 55 – a recognized high in the industry. A total of around 3.4 million passengers chose Germany's largest leisure airline.
“We are delighted to be able to offer our guests such a top performance,” says Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof. "During the Easter holidays alone, we flew more than one million passengers to their destinations across Europe – with a regularity of almost 100 percent. The fact that, according to surveys, more than 80 percent of our customers would choose to fly with Eurowings again is the result of an outstanding team effort. It spurs us on to continue this strong performance in 2025, which is once again shaping up to be a strong year for bookings."
Eurowings also recorded strong demand for tourist flights in the first quarter of 2025 and expanded its offering by 12 percent – including additional direct connections to the Gulf region, which Eurowings has gradually increased in response to positive feedback. Overall, Lufthansa Group's point-to-point business segment – consisting of Eurowings and the stake in SunExpress – posted a loss of EUR 201 million (adjusted EBIT) in the first quarter of 2025. In addition to the traditionally weaker winter business, this reflects the continuing rise in taxes and fees at Germany's aviation hub. The number of employees rose to just under 5,400.
