Lufthansa introduces stopover programme with Munich as first hub

Lufthansa is launching a new stopover programme that allows passengers to turn a layover into a short city break. The offer debuts at the Munich hub and is initially available on selected routes between Singapore and the United States, giving travellers the option to extend their stay from 24 hours up to seven days.

Flexible travel integrated into booking

The stopover option is embedded directly into the booking process on Lufthansa’s website and can be selected for both outbound and return journeys across all travel classes. Depending on the route, a surcharge may apply. Additional services such as hotel stays, rental cars and leisure activities in Munich can be added via partner platforms after the flight booking.

Turning transit into experience

“With our new stopover program, we are turning a layover in Munich into real added value for our guests. We are excited to give travelers the opportunity to flexibly incorporate one of Europe's most attractive cities and regions into their journey, enhancing their flight with a truly personal travel experience,” said Heiko Reitz, Member of the Lufthansa Airlines Board and Hub Manager Munich.

Gradual expansion planned

The rollout in Munich marks the first step of a broader strategy. Lufthansa plans to expand the programme to additional routes and regions over the coming year, with further stopover options also envisaged at other hubs within the Lufthansa Group.
