Eurowings has taken a major step in expanding its
digital offering: travellers can now conveniently book and check in for
Eurowings codeshare flights through the airline’s own website and app. With
AEGEAN Airlines and Smartwings as the first integrated partners, the
marketplace offers an extended network, new routes, and additional flight days
– making eurowings.com and the Eurowings app even more attractive as central
booking platforms for city trips, holidays, and business travel.
Technical foundation for growth
The new marketplace was developed over nearly two
years in collaboration with Lufthansa Group Hub Airlines, Lufthansa Systems,
and Lufthansa Group Digital Hangar. The result is a scalable technical
infrastructure that enables the future integration of additional partner
airlines – both codeshare and non-codeshare.
More choice and convenience
“With the expansion of our marketplace on
eurowings.com, we are bundling all relevant flight options in a single booking
channel for the first time – giving our customers more choice, flexibility, and
significantly more convenient handling,” says Michael Erfert, Head of Sales
& Distribution at Eurowings and Managing Director of Eurowings Digital. “At
the same time, we are strengthening our market position in digital sales and
laying the foundation for the continuous expansion of our platform offering.”
Ticketless and ticketed bookings combined
With the launch of this feature, Eurowings becomes one
of the few airlines worldwide to offer both “ticketless” and “ticketed” flights
on the same booking platform. This means Germany’s largest leisure airline is
not only enabling combined bookings of Eurowings and partner flights for the
first time, but also further increasing the competitiveness of its online
platform.
