International air capacity to Spain continues to
expand into the autumn season. Airlines have scheduled close to 12.8 million
seats on international flights to the country for October 2026, according to
the latest air capacity data published by Turespaña.
Compared with the 12 million seats offered in October
2025, capacity has increased by 6.4% year on year. Most of Spain’s major source
markets are contributing to the growth, although developments vary considerably
between countries.
Italy leads growth among major source markets
The United Kingdom, Spain’s largest international
source market, is expected to record a 6.8% increase in scheduled seats
compared with October last year.
Italy once again shows the strongest expansion among
the major markets, with capacity rising by 12.2%. Germany is also developing
positively, with 5.3% more seats scheduled.
France is the exception among the main European source
markets. Capacity from the country is expected to decline by 2.2% year on year
in October.
Poland maintains rapid expansion
The strongest percentage growth comes from Poland.
Scheduled capacity from the Polish market is set to increase by more than 34%,
continuing the rapid expansion already observed in previous months.
Türkiye also records significant growth, with the
number of scheduled seats increasing by 15.2% compared with October 2025.
Growth from the United States is more moderate.
Airlines have scheduled 2.6% more seats between the US and Spain than in the
same month last year.
Mexico leads Latin American markets
Mexico stands out among the Ibero-American markets
covered by the Turespaña figures. It has the largest volume of scheduled
capacity in this group and is expected to record a year-on-year increase of
19.1%.
The figures underline the continued strength of
international connectivity to Spain beyond the traditional summer peak. With
almost 800,000 additional international seats scheduled compared with October
2025, airlines are maintaining substantial capacity into the autumn travel
period.
