The
initiative is enabling NHS trusts, charities, and businesses to create vital
training opportunities in sectors where workforce demand is high.
Funding
Apprenticeships Across Key Sectors
The
transferred funds are supporting apprenticeships in areas such as Health &
Social Care, Childcare, Wildlife Management, Engineering, NHS Paramedic
training, and Dentistry qualifications.
NHS
England has benefited with 13 healthcare apprenticeships in the South East
since September 2024, backed by £113,000 of TUI funding. This includes training
for Dental Nurses, Dental Practice Managers, Oral Health Practitioners,
Pharmacy Technicians, and Children’s Services Practitioners.
South
Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust has received support for five
Paramedic Apprentices, helping to address frontline emergency care staffing
needs.
The
Turner Home care charity has been able to fund Level 3 and Level 5 Adult Care
qualifications for staff, directly enhancing resident care while freeing up
charitable funds for other needs.
Fluid
Science, a commercial enterprise, has expanded its marketing department,
creating career-change opportunities for new talent.
Strengthening
Communities and Workforce Development
Marsha
Myles, Emerging Talent & Apprenticeship Manager at TUI, said:
“We
are incredibly proud to have facilitated the transfer of apprenticeship levy
funds to organisations making a real difference in our communities. We’re not
only helping to unlock opportunities for individuals who might otherwise be
left behind but also strengthening the wider workforce and economy. It’s a
powerful way to ensure that every pound of the levy works harder – building
skills, driving social mobility, and creating a more inclusive future for all.
TUI is a proud supporter of emerging talent, with around 3.5% of our workforce
made up of apprentices and graduates, and our target is to reach 5%.”
Donna
Harrison, Apprenticeship Lead for South East WTE Clinical Professions Team, NHS
England, added:
“Since
September 2024, TUI has generously supported 13 learners to begin
apprenticeships across the NHS and wider health and social care in the South
East. This incredible partnership has enabled the Regional Apprenticeship Lead
to work closely with TUI’s Apprenticeship Specialists to connect organisations
with levy funding.”
Neil
Lentern, Director of Paramedic Practice at South Western Ambulance Service NHS
Foundation Trust, commented:
“We
are incredibly grateful to TUI for their generous apprenticeship levy transfer,
which will directly fund the education and development of five new Paramedic
Apprentices. This support removes financial barriers, fully covers tuition
fees, and allows apprentices to focus on their learning and development while
helping us invest in the next generation of paramedics.”
