Delta Air Lines and American Express are introducing a
new series of limited-time welcome offers for Delta SkyMiles credit cards.
Available to eligible new card members from August 27 through November 4, 2026,
the incentives range from flight certificates and bonus miles to statement
credits, depending on the card selected.
The most unusual offer applies to the Delta SkyMiles
Reserve American Express Consumer Card. For the first time, eligible new card
members can earn two round-trip Delta Comfort flight certificates together with
50,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 on the card during their first six
months. The certificates have no blackout dates and can be used on eligible
Delta-operated round trips within the 48 contiguous US states, Puerto Rico and
the US Virgin Islands. Bookings must be made at least 21 days in advance, while
taxes and fees of up to $80 per person may apply.
Up to 200,000 bonus miles for business customers
Other cards in the portfolio come with their own
temporary incentives. New Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business American Express Card
members can earn 200,000 bonus miles after spending $20,000 during their first
six months. Delta describes this as its highest bonus-mile offer for the card
this year.
New Platinum consumer card applicants may receive a
welcome offer of up to 90,000 bonus miles plus a $300 statement credit after
spending $4,000 during the first six months. The Platinum Business Card offers
100,000 bonus miles after $8,000 in qualifying purchases.
For the Gold consumer card, individual welcome offers
can reach 80,000 bonus miles plus a $250 statement credit after $3,000 in
purchases during the first six months. New Gold Business Card members can earn
90,000 miles after spending $6,000.
Partnership marks 30 years
The campaign follows a series of benefits introduced
earlier this summer as Delta and American Express marked the 30th anniversary
of their partnership. Changes included a second checked bag free for eligible
Basic Card members on domestic Delta-operated flights, a rideshare credit for
Gold Card members after their first renewal and redesigned cards, without an
increase in annual fees.
Existing benefits include TakeOff 15, which gives
eligible Gold, Platinum and Reserve card members a 15 percent discount when
using miles to book award travel on Delta flights. Platinum and Reserve card
members can also receive a head start of 2,500 Medallion Qualification Dollars
per eligible card type each qualification year.
Free premium snack on selected flights
Until October 31, 2026, Delta SkyMiles American
Express Card members can also receive one complimentary premium snack on
selected flights of more than 900 miles. On aircraft offering Delta Sync Wi-Fi,
passengers can access the offer after logging into the onboard network.
Eligible purchases of food and beverages aboard Delta flights can additionally
qualify for a 20 percent saving in the form of a statement credit.
Beyond conventional travel benefits, Delta and
American Express are increasingly linking card membership with access to
events. SkyMiles Experiences allows eligible members to redeem miles for
selected entertainment, fashion and other experiences, with another collection
scheduled for release in September.
The programme has also included access to the Rolling
Stone Residency at New York's Cherry Lane Theatre, a six-show series combining
live performances with conversations hosted by a Rolling Stone editor. Further
performances are planned during 2026, with participating artists announced
shortly before each show.
