TUI UK & Ireland has announced the launch of its groundbreaking
Cabin Crew Apprenticeship, the first programme of its kind among major UK-based
airlines. Beginning in March 2026, the initiative marks a major milestone in
both aviation training and youth employment.
Developed in collaboration with the UK Government, the
scheme follows the recent policy change in February that reduced the minimum
duration of apprenticeships—allowing TUI to redesign the traditional 12-month
model into a more streamlined, accessible pathway for aspiring cabin crew.
“A game-changer for the future of aviation”
“Securing a shorter apprenticeship is a game-changer –
not just for TUI, but for the future of aviation,” said Marsha Myles, Emerging
Talent and Apprenticeship Manager at TUI UK&I. “This breakthrough means we
can offer young people a faster, more accessible route into a career that’s
exciting, global, and full of opportunity. It’s about opening doors, building
confidence, and creating real pathways into the skies.”
Empowering the Next Generation of Cabin Crew
The Level 3 Apprenticeship, equivalent to two A Levels,
aims to make aviation careers more inclusive and attainable, reflecting TUI’s
commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. In its pilot year, the
programme will welcome up to 16 external candidates, aged 18 and above, who
meet standard cabin crew qualifications and pass all mandatory assessments.
Apprentices will begin with an induction and intensive
cabin crew training, before moving on to active flying duties from May to
October 2026. Time will also be dedicated to formal study and professional
development.
Government Support for Skills and Flexibility
“This first-of-its-kind aviation apprenticeship scheme
marks a major step forward in building a highly skilled, future-ready
workforce,” said Aviation Minister Keir Mather. “Thanks to our new regulations
reducing the minimum training period, we’re unlocking faster, more flexible
routes into aviation—backing an expanding sector without compromising on
quality, and offering young people better opportunities to help deliver our
Plan for Change.”
Creating Pathways, Not Promises
While a permanent position after the apprenticeship is
not guaranteed, graduates will be eligible to apply for cabin crew roles
through TUI’s standard recruitment process—equipped with enhanced skills,
experience, and industry insight.
Responsible Employment, Real Opportunities
This initiative underscores TUI’s leadership in responsible
employment and its dedication to developing meaningful career pathways for the
next generation of aviation professionals.
Applications open on 22 October 2025 via careers.tuigroup.com/en.
