Swiss Competition Commission approves Dertour’s acquisition of Hotelplan
According
to SDA, the authority concluded following an in-depth review, that the merger
would not adversely affect competition in Switzerland.
While
the deal does lead to greater concentration in certain markets, WEKO noted that
travelers will continue to have ample alternatives, including traditional
travel agencies, online booking platforms, and direct bookings with airlines
and hotels. This variety, the commission stated, ensures that price and product
comparisons remain possible.
Migros
first announced in mid-February that it would sell the majority of Hotelplan
Group to Dertour. In Switzerland, Dertour operates brands such as Helvetic
Tours and Kuoni. Together, the two companies run more than 150 travel agencies
nationwide.
