In
China, the festivities took place at Club Med Lijiang Resort under the theme "That's
75 Years of L'Esprit Libre." The event highlighted both the art of French
living and the brand’s vision for global expansion.
“We
are proud to celebrate this milestone with government representatives, industry
partners, media, influencers, and loyal members,” said Andrew Xu, Co-President
of Fosun Tourism Group and Deputy CEO of Club Med. “Thanks to their support,
Club Med has grown tremendously. Since its founding, the brand has led the way
in premium vacations. Guided by strategies such as ‘Glocal,’ premium
positioning, and Happy Digital, we’ve increased global business volume by 50%
and grown our operating profit more than fivefold compared to 2015.”
In
China, Club Med has expanded to 11 resorts since launching its first in Yabuli
in 2010. Guest visits have grown from 20,000 to over 300,000 annually, making
China the brand’s second-largest source market. Xu affirmed that Club Med will
continue to grow internationally, innovate the vacation industry, and deliver
memorable experiences to even more guests.
At
the base of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, more than 100 guests attended the
anniversary celebration. A special exhibition titled "That's 75 Years of
L'Esprit Libre" featured iconic milestones, vintage photos, and Club Med’s
journey from its early days in Europe to its global presence today.
Guests
at Lijiang Resort enjoyed a variety of activities—from yoga and archery to fine
French dining and traditional Naxi dishes. Fireworks, live performances by Club
Med’s G.Os, and cultural excursions enhanced the immersive experience. Visits
to Baisha Ancient Town provided authentic encounters with local customs and
heritage.
At
the nearby AMAZE Camp, guests engaged in frisbee games and local crafts. The
camp’s symbolic willow tree, known as the “mother’s tree” in the Naxi language,
embodies a deep reverence for nature. The AMAZE Holiday concept blends ecology,
local culture, and global perspectives. In the AMAZE Commercial Street, guests
created fresco art, while at the AMAZE•ASTRAlL Observatory, they observed the
stars over Lijiang’s famously clear night sky.
Nature
lovers explored local flora and landscapes through activities like mushroom
foraging in Wenhai Village and hiking in Poduolo. Partnerships with luxury
brands enriched the experience—sun care sets from Lancaster offered UV
protection, and outdoor workshops with Snow Peak introduced guests to camping
skills and new ways to enjoy nature.
Throughout
their stay, guests were invited to reflect on Club Med’s pioneering role in
all-inclusive travel over the past 75 years. With nearly 70 resorts in 40
countries and regions, Club Med continues to expand under the Fosun Tourism
Group umbrella, redefining premium vacation experiences around the globe.
By
combining global growth with elevated experiences, Club Med remains committed
to sharing L'Esprit Libre with travellers worldwide and embracing the next
chapter in its journey.
