Princess Cruises has introduced two new specialty
dining venues on board Diamond Princess, marking a significant upgrade to the
ship’s culinary portfolio ahead of the 2026 Japan season. Guests can now enjoy
Makoto Ocean, featuring refined Japanese cuisine, alongside the cruise line’s
signature steakhouse Crown Grill. Reservations are open for all upcoming
sailings.
Makoto Ocean brings Edomae sushi to Diamond Princess
Located on Deck 7, Makoto Ocean introduces the
Edomae-style sushi of renowned Chef Makoto Okuwa to Diamond Princess. The
restaurant previously premiered on Sun Princess and Star Princess and now
extends its concept to the Asia-based fleet. The menu highlights include
truffle salmon, snow crab temaki and toro tartare, complemented by handcrafted
cocktails inspired by Japanese flavours. Signature drinks such as the Genmai
Negroni and Kodai No Hana, which blends yuzu juice with traditional Doburoku
sake, underline the venue’s focus on authenticity and craftsmanship. The
concept reflects Princess Cruises’ emphasis on globally inspired, high-end
dining experiences.
Crown Grill returns as a guest favourite
Also new to Diamond Princess is the award-winning
Crown Grill, located in the former Savoy Dining Room on Deck 5. Long
established as a guest favourite across the Princess fleet, the steakhouse
specialises in premium aged beef, chops and fresh seafood. The setting combines
an elegant atmosphere with attentive service, and Crown Grill has consistently
been recognised among the best cruise ship steakhouses at sea.
Both Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill are priced at 55 US
dollars per person and are included for guests who book the Princess Premier
package.
Strengthening the Asia and Japan programme
“With Makoto Ocean and Crown Grill now onboard Diamond
Princess, and also recently added onboard sister ship Sapphire Princess, we’re
proud to enhance the guest experience as Diamond Princess sails across Asia and
as we look ahead to our dual-ship Japan season in 2027,” said Sami Kohen, Vice
President Food and Beverage at Princess Cruises.
Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess share a special
connection to the region, as both ships were built in Japan, underscoring
Princess Cruises’ long-standing presence in Asia.
Sailing Asia today, expanding Japan tomorrow
Diamond Princess is currently operating roundtrip
sailings from Singapore, offering itineraries across Southeast Asia with ports
of call in destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, before
returning to Japan.
Looking ahead, Princess Cruises will mark a milestone
in 2027 with its most extensive Japan season to date. For the first time,
Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess will sail from the Tokyo region
throughout the entire season. The March to December 2027 programme comprises 78
departures across 50 itineraries, ranging from seven to 28 days, representing
the cruise line’s largest-ever Japan deployment. The 2027 Japan season is
already open for booking.
