Africa is gaining momentum as one of the world’s most
exciting emerging travel regions. With its cultural diversity, striking
landscapes and growing appeal among international travellers, the continent is
increasingly central to global tourism strategies. Reflecting this trend, the
TUI Group is expanding its presence across Africa with seven new hotel openings.
Four of these opened in North Africa in November, the first TUI Blue hotel has
launched in The Gambia, and two additional resorts will follow on Zanzibar by
early 2026. With these additions, the TUI Hotels & Resorts portfolio on the
continent will grow to 106 hotels.
“As we expand our hotel clusters in North, West and
East Africa, we are continuing to deliver differentiated holiday experiences in
promising growth destinations. These new openings allow us to reach new
customer segments from emerging source markets, while delivering the
high-quality, authentic holiday experiences that define the TUI brand. We
remain committed to sustainable development that benefits local communities and
enriches our guests’ stays across the continent,” says Peter Krueger, member of
the TUI Group Executive Board and CEO Holiday Experiences.
Tunisia: The Mora Sahara Tozeur
Set on the edge of the Sahara in Tozeur — known for
its palm groves and distinct architectural heritage — The Mora Sahara Tozeur
offers 93 rooms and villas with sweeping desert views. Guests can choose
between three restaurants serving international and local cuisine, an outdoor
à-la-carte dining concept, a fitness centre, a multipurpose sports court and a
spa. The resort welcomes both families and adults seeking a tranquil escape.
Egypt: Expanded offerings from TUI Magic Life and JAZ
The recently modernised TUI Magic Life Redsina Sharm
el Sheikh, located directly on the beach in Sharm el Sheikh, offers 521 rooms,
swim-up pools, a water park and a dive centre on its house reef. The club
caters to families, couples and solo travellers.
TUI’s joint-venture partner, the JAZ Hotel Group,
introduced two additional Red Sea properties in November:
·
JAZ Royal Palmariva, located in Makadi Bay, with 505 stylish rooms and
bungalows and personalised service.
·
JAZ Palmariva Beach in Madinat Makadi, with 339 rooms, refined dining
options and a lively nearby promenade.
The Gambia: TUI Blue Tamala
Opened on 1 November 2025, TUI Blue Tamala is an
adults-only beach resort in Serrekunda. With 140 elegantly designed rooms —
including swim-up options — and an all-inclusive concept tailored for
relaxation, the hotel offers live daily entertainment, a beach bar, spa
facilities and the signature BLUEf!t sports and fitness programme. Solar panels
provide the hotel’s warm water supply.
Tanzania: Jaz Amaluna and Riu Swahili on Zanzibar
TUI’s hotel cluster in Zanzibar will expand further in
the coming months.
Opening on 15 December 2025, JAZ Amaluna is a 5-star
adults-only resort on Uroa Beach, featuring 211 rooms including suites and
swim-up units, two pools, multiple dining venues and a dedicated wellness
centre.
In early 2026, Riu Palace Swahili will join the
portfolio as another adults-only resort with 24-hour all-inclusive service,
more than 500 rooms, three infinity pools, seven restaurants, eight bars,
extensive entertainment programming and the premium Elite Club service.
With these forthcoming openings, TUI Hotels &
Resorts will operate 106 hotels with more than 34,000 rooms across nine African
countries, reinforcing the group’s presence on a continent that continues to
emerge as a leading destination for global holidaymakers.
