Turkish Airlines has obtained a five-year financing
package worth $408.5 million from the Bank of China (BOC) Türkiye, with BOC
Macau serving as the lender. The funds will support the airline’s fleet
expansion, growth initiatives, facility investments, and infrastructure
development projects at IGA Istanbul Airport.
According to a statement from the airline’s Communications
Directorate, the financing represents a strategic milestone in Turkish
Airlines’ efforts to diversify its funding sources and underscores its
commitment to sustainable, inclusive growth.
A new chapter in Türkiye–China cooperation
The transaction also marks an important step in
strengthening the economic and cultural partnership between Türkiye and China,
reinforcing both nations’ growing cooperation in aviation, trade, and
infrastructure.
Murat Şeker, Chief Financial Officer and Member of the
Board at Turkish Airlines, emphasized the broader significance of the deal:
“This financing strengthens the financial structure of
our flag carrier and contributes to the development of economic and cultural
ties between Türkiye and China.”
As the airline serving the most countries in the world,
Turkish Airlines continues to expand its international footprint while
investing in next-generation aviation infrastructure at its Istanbul hub — a
cornerstone of its long-term global strategy.
