London-based aviation start-up Vicuna Air has
introduced a new international pet travel service designed to allow animals to
fly without their owners while remaining in the aircraft cabin. The new
“Biscuit Class” concept enables pets to travel on chartered Gulfstream GV
private jets, accompanied by a Vicuna concierge throughout the journey.
The service aims to offer an alternative to
traditional cargo transport, which often requires pets to travel in cages in
the aircraft hold. Instead, Vicuna Air positions its new product as a
comfort-focused option designed to reduce stress for both pets and their
owners.
New approach to premium pet travel
Under the Biscuit Class concept, pets can travel
internationally on an airport-to-airport basis while remaining in the cabin.
Owners may accompany their animals to the airport before departure and reunite
with them shortly after landing.
Vicuna Air founder and CEO Jamie Everett said the
service represents a shift in how international pet transport is handled.
“Biscuit Class changes the terms of the conversation
entirely. For too long, pet owners have been asked to accept the unthinkable: a
beloved pet locked away in a cage, frightened and alone in the cargo, while you
are locked in your own nightmare of panic and uncertainty.”
According to Everett, the goal is to provide a more
transparent and reassuring travel experience, with animals cared for by trained
staff throughout the flight.
Expanding services in the growing pet travel market
Vicuna Air offers several service levels for
international pet travel. In addition to Biscuit Class, the company provides
“Biscuit Class Plus,” which includes full concierge services such as
documentation handling and door-to-door collection and delivery.
The company also operates “Furs Class,” a service
allowing owners to travel alongside their pets in the aircraft cabin, with
additional concierge support and chauffeured transport to and from airports.
Vicuna Air says demand for premium pet travel
continues to grow as more owners consider their pets part of the family. The
company currently operates routes between London, New York, Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Paris and Dubai, with additional routes to Milan, Frankfurt and
Toronto planned.
