Turkish Airlines’ Binding Offer for Investment in Air Europa Accepted
The
transaction involves an investment of €300 million (approx. $349 million), with
the majority to be provided through a capital increase. Turkish Airlines
confirmed that the process has now moved to the preparation of transaction
documentation and the initiation of official closing procedures.
The
agreement covers the acquisition of a minority stake in Air Europa. According
to the airline, the move is intended to strengthen its position in the
international aviation sector, expand access to tourism markets in Latin
America, and boost inbound tourism to Türkiye by enhancing both passenger and
cargo connectivity between Spain and Türkiye.
At
the closing stage, technical and financial adjustments will determine the exact
percentage of minority shares to be acquired.
“The
process is expected to be completed within approximately six to twelve months,
subject to obtaining the necessary permits and approvals from the relevant
regulatory authorities,” Turkish Airlines said in its statement to the Public
Disclosure Platform (KAP).
