Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s flag carrier, and Air
Algérie have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deepen strategic
cooperation between the two national airlines. The agreement establishes a
broader framework for collaboration across multiple business areas and aims to
strengthen connectivity between Türkiye and Algeria.
According to Turkish Airlines, the MoU includes plans
to expand the existing codeshare agreement, increase network connectivity, and
explore joint initiatives in cargo interline services, aircraft charters,
catering, lounge access, maintenance, and ground handling. The two airlines
will also cooperate on sustainability projects, environmental initiatives, and educational
programs.
The signing ceremony took place at Air Algérie’s
headquarters in Algiers, attended by senior executives from both airlines. The
MoU was signed by Bilal Ekşi, CEO of Turkish Airlines, and Hamza Benhamouda,
CEO of Air Algérie.
Strengthening bilateral and commercial ties
“Turkish Airlines’ ongoing partnership with Air
Algérie reflects our commitment to long-term, sustainable cooperation,” said
Bilal Ekşi. “This new agreement marks a significant step toward deepening
relations between our airlines. We are confident that it will strengthen both
the cultural and economic ties between Türkiye and Algeria while supporting
mutual growth.”
Hamza Benhamouda emphasized that the MoU will expand
collaboration opportunities and create tangible benefits for passengers of both
airlines. “This comprehensive agreement allows us to share expertise and
resources for the mutual benefit of both institutions. We are delighted to host
the Turkish Airlines delegation in Algiers as we continue to reinforce the
partnership between our two flag carriers,” he said.
A platform for future growth
The expanded cooperation is expected to improve connectivity
between Africa, Europe, and Asia through both airlines’ networks and to enhance
the passenger experience via joint services and operational synergies.
