The
World, the largest privately owned residential yacht on earth, has announced
details of its 2026 Journey – the most ambitious itinerary in its history.
Sailing to 90 destinations across 20 countries on six continents, the year-long
voyage offers Residents a rare blend of luxury, cultural immersion, and
exploration of some of the planet’s most remote frontiers.
A
journey shaped by Residents
Uniquely,
the 2026 Journey was developed and voted on by the ship’s Residents themselves,
in collaboration with management and after three years of detailed planning.
“Every destination reflects our community’s insight and vision,” said Jessica
Hoppe, President & CEO of The World. “Our Residents are exceptionally well
traveled, and their collective experiences have shaped a voyage that is both
personal and shared – a defining feature of life aboard The World.”
Highlights
across six continents
The
year begins in Tasmania before sailing south to New Zealand and on to a rare
semi-circumnavigation of Antarctica. The route continues through South America
and across the South Pacific, with calls at Easter Island, the Pitcairn
Islands, and the idyllic archipelagos of French Polynesia. From there, the
yacht journeys to Hawaii, California, Alaska, and the Aleutians, before
shifting toward Asia. Stops include Tokyo, Hiroshima, Busan, Beijing, Shanghai,
Hong Kong, and onward to Vietnam, Malaysia, and Brunei. The year concludes with
a festive celebration in Singapore.
Expert-led
expeditions
Three
dedicated expeditions will anchor the voyage:
·
Antarctic Semi-Circumnavigation –
including Mount Erebus, Ross Island, and the preserved huts of Scott and
Shackleton.
·
South Pacific & Pitcairn Islands –
featuring Robinson Crusoe Island, Easter Island’s moai, and the remote Pitcairn
community.
·
French Polynesia & Line Islands –
with lagoon kayaking, reef snorkeling, and immersion in Polynesian traditions.
Each
will be guided by naturalists, historians, anthropologists, and local
specialists, ensuring Residents gain deep understanding alongside extraordinary
experiences.
Luxury
lifestyle at sea
Onboard,
Residents enjoy homes tailored to their preferences, Michelin-level dining, spa
and fitness programs, and seamless service. With multiple days in port,
cultural immersion is prioritized without the need for packing or logistics –
the hallmark of life aboard The World.
“With
the 2026 Journey, we once again redefine the art of travel at sea,” said Hoppe.
“It is an extraordinary blend of discovery, cultural connection, and the
comfort of home – a true celebration of what makes The World unique.”
