EDITION Hotels, part of Marriott International, has
officially opened The Red Sea EDITION, the first hotel to debut on Shura Island,
Saudi Arabia’s landmark luxury development on the country’s western coastline.
Following the brand’s debut in Jeddah last year, the new property marks
EDITION’s second opening in Saudi Arabia and the latest milestone in the
kingdom’s Vision 2030 tourism strategy.
Set along a one-kilometre stretch of private
beachfront, The Red Sea EDITION offers sweeping views of turquoise waters and
the lush fairways of Shura Links, Saudi Arabia’s first 18-hole island golf
course designed by architect Brian Curley. The resort is part of a visionary
master plan by Red Sea Global (RSG) to transform the area’s untouched
archipelago—comprising 90 islands and one of the world’s largest barrier
reefs—into a regenerative tourism destination.
A collaboration redefining sustainable luxury
Developed in partnership with Marriott International, EDITION
Hotels, and Red Sea Global, the project is powered entirely by solar energy and
designed to harmonize architecture and landscape.
“The opening of The Red Sea EDITION marks a
significant milestone in the brand’s growth across the Middle East,” said George
Fleck, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader, EDITION. “As our second
property in Saudi Arabia, this resort embodies EDITION’s ethos of crafting
highly personalised, environmentally attuned spaces that redefine modern
luxury.”
Tony Coveney, Area General Manager for Marriott Luxury
Group, The Red Sea, added:
“Being the first hotel to open on Shura Island is an
extraordinary privilege. The Red Sea EDITION will set a new benchmark for
hospitality in the region through design, authenticity, and world-class
service.”
Contemporary design inspired by land and sea
Designed by the Rockwell Group, the resort’s
architecture draws from the textures and tones of the surrounding desert and
coastline. Low-rise stone and timber pavilions, coral-stone floors, and natural
oak details create a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The property features 240 guestrooms, including 53
suites, many with private plunge pools and direct beach access. Public areas
such as the lobby pavilion—crafted from rammed earth and natural oak—serve as
social hubs where open-air design invites sea breezes and natural light.
Culinary destinations and wellness innovation
The Red Sea EDITION introduces a bold,
wellness-oriented dining programme led by international and Saudi culinary
talent. Highlights include:
·
Central – inventive New American cuisine reimagining global comfort
dishes.
·
JIWA Beach Club & Terrace – a Balinese-inspired seaside venue
blending Indonesian flavours with Saudi atmosphere.
·
ANASA – opening this December under acclaimed Saudi chef Basma
Elkhereiji, offering refined Aegean-inspired cuisine rooted in simplicity and
local sourcing.
The spa and wellness zone integrates natural light and
local materials to create an immersive environment. Facilities include
treatment suites featuring Omorovicza and Le Labo rituals, a Recovery Dome with
hydrothermal therapies, and a state-of-the-art gym offering HIIT, TRX, Pilates,
and outdoor fitness activities such as tennis, paddle, hiking, and watersports.
Events and destination experiences
With over 1,000 square metres of event space,
including a grand ballroom for up to 500 guests, the resort provides a
versatile setting for conferences, weddings, and private celebrations
overlooking the Red Sea.
The Red Sea EDITION joins the brand’s global portfolio
of lifestyle hotels that combine design, gastronomy, and community spirit,
continuing EDITION’s mission to offer authentic, understated luxury for the
modern traveller.
