International air connectivity to Spain continues to
expand. According to the latest air capacity report published by Turespaña, a
total of 8.14 million seats are scheduled on international flights to Spain in
February 2026. Compared with the same month last year, when 7.9 million seats
were offered, this represents a year-on-year increase of 3.5 percent.
The February outlook points to solid performance
across most of Spain’s key source markets, reflecting continued demand for
travel to the country during the winter season.
Mixed trends across major European markets
Among the main European source markets, Italy shows
the strongest growth, with seat capacity increasing by 3.8 percent. The United
Kingdom also records a positive trend, adding 1.8 percent more seats, while
France grows by 2.6 percent.
Germany is the exception among the major markets, with
a reduction of 6.7 percent in scheduled seat capacity for February compared
with the previous year.
The Nordic markets present a more uneven picture.
Denmark and Norway register modest increases of 0.7 percent and 1.2 percent
respectively, while Sweden and Finland reduce their planned capacity by 4.4
percent and 7.6 percent.
Strong acceleration from Turkey and Poland
Turkey and Poland stand out for their dynamic growth.
Turkey posts a significant increase of 31 percent in scheduled seats, while
Poland follows with a rise of 24.7 percent compared with February 2025. These
figures underline the growing importance of both markets for Spain’s
international air traffic.
Long-haul and Ibero-American markets on the rise
Outside Europe, the United States continues to expand
its air connectivity with Spain, with a projected seat capacity increase of 7.6
percent for February.
Among Ibero-American countries, Colombia once again
records the highest volume of scheduled capacity, with growth of 13.6 percent.
Mexico also shows an upward trend, increasing its planned seat capacity by 2.8
percent.
Overall, the February figures confirm a positive
outlook for Spain’s international air connectivity, supported by diversified
growth across multiple markets despite isolated declines in some regions.
