Ryanair announced that the first group of cabin crew
assigned to its new Tirana base has completed training with a 100% success
rate. The 35 recruits represent half of the 70 new crew members scheduled to
join operations from the end of March.
Training Results Highlight Workforce Development
According to the airline, the outcome reflects both
the structure of its cabin crew training program and the performance of the
trainees. Ryanair emphasized the role of its instructors as well as the
commitment of the new employees.
Network Expansion and Traffic Growth
During the upcoming summer season, Ryanair will
operate 43 routes to and from Tirana, including 20 newly introduced connections
such as Alghero, Baden-Baden, Eindhoven, Genoa, Memmingen, Parma, and Wroclaw.
The expansion is expected to generate 50% traffic growth and carry
approximately four million passengers in 2026.
Long-Term Investment Strategy
Ryanair outlined plans to further expand its presence
in Albania over the next five years. The airline intends to base up to six
Boeing 737 aircraft in Tirana, representing an investment of approximately 600
million US dollars. Under this scenario, annual passenger volumes could exceed
six million, with more than 60 routes in operation and an estimated 4,000 jobs
supported by 2030.
The airline linked these projections to Albania’s
aviation policy environment, including the continuation of its zero aviation
tax framework and competitive airport access costs.
Management Commentary
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary commented on the training
results:
“These results from our first 35 trainees – a perfect
100% pass rate – show the extraordinary talent and work ethic we’ve found in
Albania. As Albania maintains its low-cost, pro-growth aviation policy, Ryanair
will continue to invest, bringing more aircraft, more routes, more visitors and
more well-paid jobs to Tirana.”
With the Tirana base scheduled to commence operations
at the end of March, Ryanair continues to position Albania as a growing market
within its European network.
