Ryanair, Europe’s No. 1 airline, is reminding
passengers that from Wednesday, 12 November, only digital boarding passes will
be accepted. As part of the airline’s transition to a fully digital process,
passengers will no longer be able to download or print physical paper boarding
passes. Instead, boarding passes generated during online check-in must be
accessed via the myRyanair app for boarding.
The move—already adopted by nearly 80% of Ryanair’s
207 million annual passengers—is designed to make travel faster, more
convenient, and more sustainable. It also ensures easier access to a range of innovative
app features, including:
·
Order to Seat: Pre-order food and drinks via smartphone and be served
first.
·
Real-time flight updates: Live notifications for boarding, gate changes,
and delays.
·
Instant disruption alerts: Direct messages from Ryanair’s Operations
Centre in case of schedule changes.
·
Alternative flight options: Real-time rebooking alternatives when
disruptions occur.
·
All travel documents in one place: Easy access to essential information
through the app.
Dara Brady, Ryanair’s Chief Marketing Officer, said:
“We are just a week away from the switch to 100%
digital boarding passes. From Wednesday, 12 November, passengers will no longer
be able to print paper boarding passes and must instead use the digital pass
generated in the myRyanair app during check-in.
While over 80% of our passengers already use digital
passes and won’t be affected by this change, we want to remind those who still
print their boarding cards to download the myRyanair app before the transition.
Going fully digital means a faster, smarter, and
greener travel experience for our customers, while providing easy access to
innovative features such as ‘Order to Seat’, live flight updates, and direct
notifications. We look forward to delivering an improved travel experience for
all our passengers through our industry-leading myRyanair app.”
