Ryanair, Spain’s No. 1 airline, has unveiled its Winter
2025 schedule for Alicante, featuring 79 routes, including ten new destinations
such as Bratislava (Slovakia), Linz and Salzburg (Austria), Bydgoszcz and
Rzeszow (Poland), Cardiff, Aberdeen (UK), Stockholm Västeras and Smaland
(Sweden), and Lanzarote (Spain).
The expanded program also includes additional
frequencies on 29 popular routes, among them Milan, Marrakesh, Budapest and Edinburgh,
increasing Ryanair’s overall winter capacity at Alicante by 12%.
Strong investment and local impact
The winter schedule will be operated primarily by 16
aircraft based in Alicante, representing a $1.6 billion investment. This
expansion supports over 6,700 local jobs and reinforces Ryanair’s commitment to
driving year-round tourism and affordable connectivity for residents and
visitors alike.
Challenges from increased airport charges
While Ryanair continues to grow in Alicante, the
airline has been forced to cut one million seats from its broader Spanish
winter schedule due to AENA’s 6.62% airport charge increase and what Ryanair
describes as ineffective “incentive schemes”.
These rising costs, according to the airline, make
several regional airports financially unsustainable. Ryanair has consistently
invested in regional growth to support low-fare access and tourism but warns
that uncompetitive fees threaten this progress.
Statement from Ryanair
“Ryanair is pleased to launch our Alicante Winter 2025
schedule with 79 routes, including ten new exciting destinations such as
Bratislava, Salzburg, Bydgoszcz and Lanzarote, plus extra flights on 29
existing routes,” said Alejandra Ruiz, Ryanair’s Head of Communications and
spokesperson in Spain.
“This growth increases Ryanair’s capacity at Alicante
by 12%, giving customers even more choice at Europe’s lowest fares. Despite
AENA’s excessive taxes, Ryanair remains committed to Alicante with 16 based
aircraft, supporting more than 6,700 local jobs.”
Flights available now
Ryanair’s full Winter 2025 schedule is now open for
booking at Ryanair.com, with fares starting from €21.99 for travel between November
2025 and March 2026.
