To
launch the next chapter in bold family vacations, Royal Caribbean crew members,
executives, loyal guests, and partners gathered in the ship’s signature
AquaTheater, where research astronaut and payload specialist Kellie Gerardi
officially named the ship and entrusted its safekeeping to the crew and the
millions of vacationers who will sail on her in the years ahead.
"I'm
honored to celebrate Royal Caribbean's new Star of the Seas in such a beautiful
naming ceremony as godmother – a tradition close to my heart and a spirit that
spans both sea and space," said Gerardi. "A vacation on Star combines
two of my greatest passions – exploration and family time – and I can’t wait
for this journey to begin."
The
ceremony marked a major milestone for Royal Caribbean, honoring the thousands
who brought Star of the Seas to life. The ship now embarks on its first
voyages, offering guests the record-breaking experiences of the Icon Class,
including visits to the award-winning private destination Perfect Day at
CocoCay in The Bahamas.
"Star
of the Seas represents the next bold step in our journey to reimagine
vacations," said Jason Liberty, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group.
"It brings together our best innovations, signature experiences, and
sought-after destinations into one unforgettable adventure. With Star, we’re
not just launching a ship – we’re advancing our mission to create the world’s
best vacations responsibly, for guests of all ages."
Spanning
eight neighborhoods that are destinations in themselves, Star offers thrills
and relaxation for everyone:
·
Category 6 waterpark and the Crown’s
Edge skywalk 154 feet above the ocean for adrenaline seekers.
·
Seven pools, including a spectacular
suspended infinity pool at sea.
·
Surfside neighborhood, a
stay-and-play-all-day space designed for young families.
·
Over 40 dining and bar options.
Dazzling
entertainment, from the Broadway hit Back to the Future: The Musical to
world-class shows on air, ice, water, and stage.
"Here
we are introducing the boldest family vacation ever! Star of the Seas delivers
everything families want – more adventure, more variety, and more ways to
create unforgettable memories together," said Michael Bayley, president
and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. "This is a magical moment to
celebrate with our Royal Caribbean family, whose dedication made it
possible."
Following
in the wake of Icon of the Seas, which debuted in Miami earlier this year, Star
of the Seas will offer 7-night adventures from Port Canaveral to the Eastern
and Western Caribbean, including stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay. Over the next
three years, Royal Caribbean will further expand its portfolio with Royal Beach
Club Paradise Island (opening December 2025), Royal Beach Club Cozumel (2026),
and the next groundbreaking experience, Perfect Day Mexico (fall 2027).
