RIU Hotels & Resorts has been named “Gold Winner”
in the category Leading Resort/Hotel Brand in South Asia at the South Asian
Travel Awards (SATA) 2025, the region’s most prestigious recognition for
excellence in hospitality and tourism.
The award was accepted by Sisitha Weerasekara, Cluster
Sales Manager for the Maldives and Sri Lanka, during the official gala held on September
20 at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo, Sri Lanka. The distinction was presented by
the Chairperson of Visit Maldives Corporation.
Commitment to quality and service in South Asia
RIU’s success in South Asia reflects its growing
footprint in the region. The group currently operates three properties: Hotel
Riu Sri Lanka, the company’s first hotel on the continent (opened in 2016), and
two Maldivian resorts – Hotel Riu Palace Maldivas and Hotel Riu Atoll.
The SATA recognition, based on professional
evaluations and public voting, underscores RIU’s dedication to high-quality
hospitality, strong service standards, and innovation in one of the world’s
fastest-evolving tourism markets.
