Shanghai Disney Resort is preparing an extended winter programme that will bring new entertainment, seasonal attractions and special accommodation packages to Shanghai Disneyland. The Disney Winter Frostival will run from November 19, 2026, to February 20, 2027, covering the Christmas and New Year holidays as well as the weeks leading into the Chinese New Year period. The event forms part of the resort's tenth-anniversary celebrations and introduces additional experiences designed to encourage visits during the winter season.
Among the new attractions is an interactive performance featuring characters from Disney's Frozen alongside the Shanghai Disneyland Band. The programme also includes returning seasonal entertainment, artificial snowfall along Mickey Avenue, illuminated castle shows and winter-themed decorations throughout the resort. Christmas celebrations will extend beyond the theme park to Disneytown and the resort's two hotels, creating a broader programme for visitors planning overnight stays.
For international travellers, the winter festival offers another reason to include Shanghai Disneyland in a city break or a longer itinerary through eastern China. The extended operating period provides flexibility beyond the traditional Christmas holidays, while dedicated hotel packages combine accommodation, park admission and selected dining experiences. The resort has also announced a ticket promotion offering a dining voucher for visits on eligible dates through January 3, 2027.
New entertainment joins established winter traditions
A central addition to this year's programme is Star Squad: Join Olaf for a Cozy Celebration, a new interactive show at the castle viewing area. Featuring Olaf and Anna from Frozen, the Shanghai Disneyland Band and the Star Squad, the performance invites visitors to participate through music, dancing and coordinated lighting effects.
Several established seasonal attractions will return. Mickey's Snow Magic will recreate a winter atmosphere along Mickey Avenue with artificial snowfall, while the Disney Winter Magic Cavalcade will feature themed floats and Disney characters in a seasonal procession.
In the evenings, A Celebration of Disney Winter Frostival will use projections, lighting and sound to transform the Enchanted Storybook Castle and the surrounding Gardens of Imagination.
Winter installations will provide additional attractions throughout the park. Snow statues and ice sculptures inspired by Disney characters are planned along Mickey Avenue and in the Gardens of Imagination, with further installations featuring characters from Zootopia.
From December 1, 2026, until January 3, 2027, Mickey and Friends will appear in new winter sports-inspired costumes. Duffy and Friends will also receive seasonal outfits, while selected Disney princesses and princes will participate in special castle encounters.
Christmas markets and New Year celebrations
The Christmas programme will extend across Shanghai Disney Resort, including Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, Toy Story Hotel and the Disneytown entertainment district.
One of the returning highlights is Mickey's Magical Tree Lighting Ceremony in the Gardens of Imagination. The ceremony brings together Disney characters and live musicians for the illumination of the resort's principal Christmas tree.
Disneytown will host a Christmas Tree Trail featuring decorations connected to the resort's tenth anniversary. A seasonal market will offer food stalls, craft activities and Santa's cabin, with appearances by Santa scheduled for weekends and holidays.
Additional musical entertainment will include Christmas Swing, Mickey Avenue Carolers and Light Up the Holidays with Magic.
Special celebrations are also planned for December 31, 2026, and January 1, 2027. Disney characters will appear in New Year costumes, while the Enchanted Storybook Castle will provide the setting for Ignite the New Year, a dedicated evening celebration.
Seasonal food and beverage offerings will range from hot chocolate and flavoured milk tea to Chinese-inspired snacks and themed desserts. Restaurants at the resort will introduce festive menus, while both resort hotels will offer themed dinner buffets accompanied by entertainment activities.
Hotel packages combine accommodation and park admission
Shanghai Disney Resort is introducing several seasonal offers intended to encourage longer visits and combine the theme park with its accommodation facilities.
The Disney Dream Vacation – Winter Frostival Package includes one night at either Shanghai Disneyland Hotel or Toy Story Hotel, breakfast and dinner buffets for two adults, two dated one-day park tickets and food and beverage vouchers. The package also includes Disney Premier Access for two guests to the Disney Winter Magic Cavalcade.
A separate ticket promotion combines a dated one-day admission ticket with a complimentary RMB 88 dining voucher. The offer applies to eligible visits through January 3, 2027, and the voucher can be used for selected dinner combinations at participating quick-service restaurants.
For travel advisors and tour operators, the packages provide a way to incorporate a theme park visit into a Shanghai itinerary without arranging accommodation, admission and selected dining services separately.
The winter festival also extends the resort's seasonal appeal beyond Christmas and New Year, with the programme continuing until February 20, 2027. This allows visitors travelling to Shanghai during different parts of the winter season to experience themed entertainment and attractions.
Shanghai Disney Resort notes that individual performances may be modified, postponed or cancelled because of operational requirements or weather conditions. Visitors should therefore check the applicable schedules and package conditions before making arrangements.
