As
part of the move, the airline will open a 15,000-square-foot premium lounge –
its first dedicated lounge in both New York City and the United States.
The
state-of-the-art facility will feature direct gate access, premium dining,
relaxation zones, prayer rooms, children’s play areas, VIP check-in, and
duty-free shopping. Designed exclusively for Qatar Airways Business Class
passengers, the lounge underscores the airline’s commitment to delivering an
exceptional travel experience and highlights the strategic importance of New
York in its global network.
“Our
new state-of-the-art lounge at JFK will provide an enhanced experience at every
touchpoint and complement our industry-leading Business Class travel offering,”
said Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer.
“From dedicated transfers and VIP check-in to premium retail and dining, we
look forward to welcoming passengers to the World’s Best service at New
Terminal One.”
Jennifer
Aument, CEO of The New Terminal One, added: “We thank Qatar Airways for their
confidence in us. Their decision to make Terminal One their new home reflects
the value we deliver to international carriers and reaffirms our shared vision
of setting a new standard for global travel in New York.”
The
New Terminal One is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $19
billion redevelopment of JFK Airport, which includes two new terminals, the
modernization of existing facilities, a new ground transportation center, and a
simplified roadway network.
Qatar
Airways launched New York services in 2008 and currently operates from Terminal
8 with 18 weekly flights. Its U.S. network now covers 11 destinations, serving
over 3 million passengers annually and connecting travelers to more than 170
destinations worldwide through its hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha.
