Princess Cruises marked National Margarita Day with a
record-breaking onboard event, securing a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for
the Most Margaritas Sold in 8 Hours. The achievement was recorded aboard Regal
Princess during a Caribbean voyage.
The cruise line reported that 3,410 handcrafted 24K
Margaritas were sold within the eight-hour measurement window, exceeding the
previous record of 2,728.
Record attempt staged at sea
The record-setting sales period took place on February
17 while Regal Princess was docked in Cozumel, Mexico. The 3,560-guest vessel
was operating a seven-day Western Caribbean itinerary from Galveston, Texas.
According to Guinness World Records, the attempt was
independently verified.
“You could feel the celebration in every bar of Regal
Princess as Princess Cruises made history with a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™
title for Most Margaritas Sold in 8 Hours,” said Thomas Bradford, Official
Adjudicator from Guinness World Records.
Million-margarita milestone reached
The record coincided with another performance
indicator for the cruise line’s beverage programme. Princess Cruises announced
that total sales of its signature 24K Margarita reached 1,038,197 units between
January 1, 2025, and January 7, 2026.
The cocktail is prepared using Pantalones Organic
Blanco Tequila, under a fleetwide partnership introduced in October 2024.
Beverage partnership in focus
Princess Cruises positions the collaboration with
Pantalones Organic Tequila as one of its most prominent beverage alliances. The
tequila brand is available across the fleet and incorporated into multiple
drink offerings.
Sami Kohen, Vice President of Food and Beverage at
Princess Cruises, linked the record attempt to broader guest engagement
strategies.
“Celebrating one million 24K Margaritas and making
history with a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title on National Margarita Day captures
the incredible spirit and enthusiasm our guests brought to create this
unforgettable moment at sea,” Kohen said.
Signature cocktail as brand element
The 24K Margarita has become one of Princess Cruises’
most frequently ordered cocktails. The drink combines Pantalones Organic Blanco
Tequila with Cointreau, Grand Marnier and margarita mix, served over ice with a
salted rim.
Princess Cruises continues to expand its Love Line
Premium Liquors Collection, which features celebrity-associated beverage brands
across alcoholic and low-alcohol categories.
