Miraval Resorts & Spas has officially opened
Miraval The Red Sea on Shura Island, marking the brand’s first property outside
the United States and a major milestone in its international expansion. Located
on Saudi Arabia’s west coast, the adults-only resort introduces Miraval’s
signature approach to mindfulness, wellbeing and intentional living to one of
the world’s most ambitious tourism destinations.
Set between desert landscapes, lagoons and mangrove
forests, the resort combines the brand’s 30-year wellness philosophy with
elements of Saudi culture and heritage, creating an experience designed to
foster balance, restoration and personal connection.
Wellness-focused retreat in a unique natural setting
Miraval The Red Sea features 180 guestrooms, suites
and villas integrated into the island’s natural environment. Designed by Foster
+ Partners and Rockwell Group, the architecture combines natural materials,
warm desert tones and coral-inspired forms to create a tranquil atmosphere that
reflects the surrounding landscape.
The resort is located within The Red Sea destination,
a large-scale regenerative tourism development spanning more than 28,000 square
kilometres of coastline, islands, mountains and desert terrain. Powered
entirely by renewable energy, the destination is rapidly emerging as one of the
Middle East’s most significant luxury tourism projects.
Personalised wellbeing experiences at the core
A key feature of the Miraval experience is its focus
on individually tailored wellness programmes. Guests work with dedicated
Experience Planners to create personalised itineraries that combine
mindfulness, movement, cultural exploration and outdoor adventure.
Activities include Arabic calligraphy workshops,
heritage storytelling sessions, perfume blending experiences and guided
stargazing inspired by Saudi traditions. Outdoor experiences range from
kayaking through mangrove forests and paddleboarding along the coastline to
zip-lining adventures designed to encourage movement and engagement with
nature.
At the centre of the resort, a contemplative labyrinth
provides a dedicated space for walking meditation, reflection and moments of
stillness.
Largest spa on Shura Island
The resort’s wellness offering is anchored by the
40,000-square-foot Life in Balance Spa, the largest dedicated spa facility on
Shura Island.
The spa features 39 indoor and outdoor treatment rooms
overlooking lagoons, gardens and desert scenery. Treatments combine Miraval’s
established wellness approach with Saudi-inspired elements, including hammam
rituals, mineral-rich body scrubs and therapies inspired by the surrounding
desert environment.
The programme focuses on restoration, mindfulness,
balance and overall wellbeing, reflecting the brand’s long-standing philosophy
of helping guests “live a life in balance”.
Culinary experiences designed around wellbeing
Dining plays a central role in the guest experience,
with several concepts centred on nutritious and mindful eating.
The signature restaurant, Rosemary, showcases
plant-forward cuisine featuring seasonal ingredients and flavours inspired by
the region. Palm Court Café offers all-day dining with lighter meals, fresh
juices and wellness-focused options, while Coral Cove transitions from a
relaxed daytime venue into an evening social space featuring sharing plates and
tapas-style dishes.
Guests can also participate in interactive culinary
experiences at the Life in Balance Culinary Kitchen, where workshops explore
Saudi coffee traditions, mindful cooking techniques and non-alcoholic mixology.
New chapter for the Miraval brand
The opening represents a significant step in the
evolution of the Miraval brand, bringing its wellness-focused hospitality
concept to an international audience for the first time.
By combining immersive wellbeing programmes, cultural
experiences and a distinctive natural setting, Miraval The Red Sea introduces a
new approach to luxury travel in the region—one centred on intentional living,
personal renewal and meaningful connections with both place and self.
