The Lufthansa Group has announced that it will extend
the suspension of several flight routes to the Middle East until autumn due to
the continuing conflict in Iran. The decision affects a number of destinations
across the region and applies to several airlines within the Lufthansa Group.
According to the company, flights to and from Abu
Dhabi, Amman, Beirut, Riyadh, Dammam, Erbil in northern Iraq, Muscat in Oman
and the Iranian capital Tehran will remain suspended until 24 October.
Additional routes temporarily halted
Further routes will also remain suspended for a
shorter period. Flights to and from Dubai and Tel Aviv will not operate until
31 May.
The flight suspensions apply to several airlines
within the Lufthansa Group, including Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines,
Brussels Airlines, ITA Airways, Edelweiss and Lufthansa Cargo.
In addition, Eurowings, the group’s low-cost carrier,
plans to suspend flights to and from Tel Aviv, Beirut and Erbil until 30 April.
Eurowings flights to and from Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Amman will remain suspended
until 24 October.
For the time being, Lufthansa Cargo freight flights
and Eurowings passenger flights to Tel Aviv will remain suspended until 30
April.
