IHG
Hotels & Resorts (IHG) today announced a new partnership with Hang Lung
Group for its Luxury & Lifestyle brand, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.
Scheduled to open by the end of 2026, the upcoming Kimpton Xujiahui Shanghai
will be located at the Grand Gateway 66, a premier destination for global
luxury brands, in the vibrant Xujiahui commercial hub. This strategic
collaboration marks a significant milestone for Kimpton Hotels &
Restaurants in Greater China and a pivotal move for IHG in expanding its
portfolio of Luxury & Lifestyle brands in first-tier cities, strengthening
its presence in the luxury hotel market.
As
traveler preferences evolve and the Greater China’s affluent population grows,
the demand for experiential and high-quality travel is reshaping the luxury
travel market. Chinese consumers are increasingly drawn to unique and
personalized experiences, driving the popularity of luxury hotels with bespoke
designs and tailored services. Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants caters to this
trend and perfectly complements the luxury allure of Grand Gateway 66. The
upcoming Kimpton Xujiahui Shanghai will further stimulate consumer activity in
the bustling Xujiahui area, enhancing its status as a premier shopping and
entertainment hub. This new addition will bridge a gap in the luxury hotel
market in Xujiahui commercial hub and enhance the integration of Shanghai’s
high-end business, culture, and tourism functions.
Daniel
Aylmer, CEO, IHG Greater China, said, “Entering Greater China for 49
years, IHG has been dedicated to this market, with a strong focus on expanding
our Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in top-tier cities. The launch of Kimpton
Xujiahui Shanghai marks an important step in bringing the Kimpton brand to a
wider guest and expand our footprint in the luxury and boutique hotel sector in
key cities. We are excited to partner with the Hang Lung Group to create a
premier lifestyle destination in Xujiahui commercial hub, establishing Kimpton
Xujiahui Shanghai as a new landmark with vibrant urban social experiences.
Looking ahead, we are eager to further expand our portfolio of Luxury &
Lifestyle hotels across Greater China, catering to the diverse and personalized
travel needs of our global guests.”
Mr.
Weber Lo, CEO of Hang Lung Group, said, “Grand Gateway 66, Hang Lung’s
inaugural project in mainland China, has stood as one of the most iconic
commercial complexes in the heart of Xujiahui business district since it opened
its doors. Our partnership with InterContinental Hotels Group to transform the
Grand Gateway 66 Serviced Apartment into Kimpton Xujiahui Shanghai marks a
significant step in enhancing the complex’s positioning as the ‘GATEWAY TO
INSPIRATION,’ as well as its international and domestic appeal. This initiative
reflects our long-term commitment to Xujiahui district, elevating its offerings
and status while addressing the demand for luxury hospitality in the area. It
is our vision to infuse inspiration, energy, and vibrancy into the city of
Shanghai, thereby strengthening our presence in the commercial real estate
market.”
Kimpton
Hotels & Restaurants created bespoke, design-led destinations, where each
establishment showcases its own vibrant style by blending local culture and
flavors to craft unique urban landscapes and cultural stories. The design of
the Kimpton Xujiahui Shanghai draws inspiration from Shanghai’s rich cultural
heritage and architectural diversity, with a dynamic facade featuring
interwoven curved rooflines and eaves that beautifully capture the city’s
multifaceted urban cityscape. The hotel will be transformed from the serviced
apartments of the Grand Gateway 66 complex with a comprehensive revitalization,
elevating its luxury appeal to harmonize with the prestigious ambiance of the
surrounding area. This transformation will not only interpret new experiences
with local cultures but also lead the luxury lifestyle in Xujiahui commercial
hub, together with Hang Lung Plaza, the destination offering luxury shopping
experiences to guests pursuing fashion trends.
Kimpton
Hotels & Restaurants is renowned for its human-centric values and
celebrates individuality and diversity. As a trailblazer in the boutique hotel
sector, Kimpton embraces individuality, advocates design and pays attention to
human connections. The brand’s pet-friendly service, established in 1992, has
become a hallmark of its uniqueness. With 75 hotels currently opening globally
and 57 more in the pipeline, Kimpton boasts a presence in iconic cities
including Taipei, Suzhou, Shanghai, New York City, London, and Bangkok. IHG
also plans to expand its footprint in Shanghai, Sanya, Nanjing, and beyond,
continuing to deliver its signature heartfelt service, vibrant culture, and
distinctive lifestyle experiences to more guests.
Kimpton
Xujiahui Shanghai is located in Grand Gateway 66 and enjoys a prime location in
Xujiahui area, conveniently positioned at the interchange of Metro Lines 1, 9,
and 11. This strategic setting provides guests seamless access to the Hengshan
Road-Fuxing Road Historical and Cultural Block. Guests can enjoy one-stop
experiences including dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing,
shopping, and entertainment in Xujiahui area. The hotel will feature 149 guest
rooms, complemented by a rooftop garden, outdoor terrace, and swimming pool,
