Spain
received 11.7 million international air passengers in July, representing a 4.3%
increase compared with the same month last year, according to data published
today by Turespaña. Between January and July 2025, the country welcomed a total
of 63.7 million international passengers, marking a 6% rise compared with the
same period in 2024.
Market
Diversification
In
July, passenger arrivals increased from most key source markets, with the
exception of Germany. Strong growth was recorded from China and South Korea,
alongside the recovery of Japan. Notable increases also came from Turkey and
Colombia.

United Kingdom: With 2.7 million
passengers (23.1% of the total), the UK remains Spain’s largest source market,
registering a 4% year-on-year increase. The Balearic Islands attracted 27% of
UK passengers, followed by the Canary Islands with 20.9%. Galicia and Andalusia
posted the strongest annual growth, both above 10%.

Germany: 1.6 million passengers
arrived from Germany (13.4% of the total), down slightly by -0.6%. While the
Balearic Islands captured 46.7% of German arrivals, these fell by -3.2%.
Catalonia recorded a decline of -1.0%, while the Canary Islands posted growth
of 6.1%.

Italy: Accounting for 9.8% of the
flow, Italy sent 1.1 million passengers in July, up 5% year on year. The
Community of Madrid and Catalonia together received 52.2% of these arrivals.
Strong increases were noted in the Basque Country, Catalonia, and the Canary
Islands, all above 10%.

France: Representing 7.4% of the
total, France saw significant growth in the Balearic Islands, which received
18,499 additional passengers compared with July 2024. Overall, the Balearics
and Catalonia accounted for 47% of French arrivals.

Netherlands: Passengers from the
Netherlands accounted for 4.9% of the total, rising by 11.1%. They traveled
mainly to Catalonia (20.4%) and the Valencian Community (18.6%). All regions
recorded improvements except Galicia, with Andalusia leading the growth.

Destinations
Spain’s
six main Autonomous Communities – Madrid, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, the
Canary Islands, Andalusia, and the Valencian Community – concentrated 97% of
total arrivals in July. All registered growth, with the Valencian Community
showing the strongest increase (+8.2%), while the Balearic Islands recorded the
most moderate (+1.2%).
Airports
Adolfo
Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport received the highest number of international
arrivals in July with 2.2 million (+2.5%), followed by Barcelona (approx. 2
million, +4.9%) and Palma de Mallorca (1.8 million, +0.8%). Alicante Airport
posted the largest annual increase, up 8.3% compared with July 2024.
