IHG
Hotels & Resorts has debuted its new lifestyle brand, Atwell, with the
official opening of Atwell Suites Shanghai Wuning. The launch marks the brand’s
first property in Greater China, reflecting IHG’s confidence in the market and
its strategy to diversify in the lifestyle travel segment.
Atwell
is designed around the idea of “living comfort” combined with aesthetic style.
The concept features open spaces, vibrant accents, curated artworks, and
smart-home technology. Guests are invited to experience both the familiarity of
home and the surprise of locally inspired design.
Highlights
include multifunctional rooms with voice-activated controls, a Social Hub with
fitness and leisure options, and the lifestyle boutique “Dialecte,” showcasing
independent designers and sustainable products. Dining is centered on B.N.B
Bistro, which creatively reinterprets baozi, noodles, and beer in a
neighborhood-style setting.
The
first property offers 174 guestrooms, blending warm residential touches with
modern amenities. Public areas such as the streetside café terrace, boutique
store, and Gym & Laundry create a balance of community, practicality, and
style, enabling guests to connect with Shanghai’s cultural rhythm.
IHG
sees Atwell as a growth driver in the selected service lifestyle segment,
targeting younger consumers who seek individuality and quality. The model
promises strong returns for owners, backed by IHG’s global distribution systems
and the IHG One Rewards program with 145 million members.
As
IHG celebrates 50 years in Greater China, Atwell’s debut underscores the
Group’s commitment to innovation and its ambition to expand across tier-one and
emerging cities. The brand aims to bring more “new territorial homes” to
markets with high potential, blending global standards with local cultural
inspiration.
