IHG® Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading
hotel groups, has signed a management agreement with DC Constructions, the
construction arm of Urban Oasis Hospitality, to develop the Holiday Inn Express
Siliguri Bagdogra Airport. Scheduled to open in 2028, the 100-key greenfield
property will enhance IHG’s footprint in Eastern India and bolster its growing
portfolio along major travel and trade routes.
Located close to Bagdogra International Airport, the
new hotel will serve business and transit travellers drawn to Siliguri, a
thriving commercial hub in West Bengal and the principal gateway to the Eastern
Himalayas, Northeast India, and the international borders with Nepal,
Bangladesh, and Bhutan.
Smart design for the modern traveller
As IHG’s largest and fastest-growing brand, Holiday
Inn Express operates more than 3,200 hotels worldwide and focuses on delivering
“more where it matters most.” The upcoming Siliguri property will feature the
brand’s Generation 5 design, integrating flexible workspaces, refreshed
aesthetics, and essential amenities that blend efficiency with comfort—ideal
for both short business stays and leisure stopovers.
Statements from IHG and DC Constructions
“We are delighted to announce the signing of Holiday
Inn Express Siliguri Bagdogra Airport, marking another milestone in our
expansion across strategic gateway cities in India,” said Sudeep Jain, Managing
Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts. “This signing exemplifies
the strong growth of our Holiday Inn Express brand in India, which remains a
top choice for guests seeking consistent, modern comfort and for owners looking
for high-return investments.”
On behalf of the ownership, Avinash Tiwari, Managing
Director of DC Constructions, added: “We are proud to partner with IHG Hotels
& Resorts. Siliguri’s growing significance as a travel hub and commercial
destination makes this project especially exciting. The hotel will bring
international hospitality standards to the region while contributing to local
economic growth.”
A growing national footprint
The Siliguri Bagdogra project joins a portfolio of 17
operating Holiday Inn Express hotels across India, with 21 additional
properties in the pipeline. Overall, IHG® currently operates 51 hotels in India
across six brands—Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne
Plaza, voco™ Hotels, Holiday Inn Resort, and Holiday Inn Express—and expects 72
more openings within the next three to five years.
