These
voyages lead guests to destinations that few travellers ever reach – from
beluga whale migrations in Hudson Bay to remote islands like Palau, Tonga and
Bora Bora.
Expedition
Hudson Bay and Greenland – a premiere route
Currently
sailing uncharted waters, the HANSEATIC nature is exploring northern Canada,
Hudson Bay and Greenland. Last week, it became the first expedition ship to
call at Chesterfield Inlet, where the Inuit community welcomed guests and crew
with warmth. The route continues to Churchill, Manitoba – one of the last
untouched wilderness outposts in North America – where guests witnessed beluga
whales frolicking close to shore. The expedition will conclude in Greenland,
with Ilulissat Icefjord and the icebergs of Disko Bay as highlights.
Northwest
Passage – inaccessible to many, unforgettable to a few
Meanwhile,
the HANSEATIC inspiration is navigating the legendary Northwest Passage, one of
the world’s longest and most challenging sea routes. Highlights include Popof
Island with its bison herds, Unalaska Island with its historic Russian Orthodox
church, and the possibility of polar bear and musk ox sightings. A rendezvous
with sister ship HANSEATIC spirit is also planned, conditions permitting. After
30 days at sea, the ship is expected to return to Kangerlussuaq on 8 September.
This journey will be repeated in 2026.
South
Seas trilogy – mantas, myths and moai
For
those seeking warmth and tropical waters, the HANSEATIC spirit offers three
consecutive routes through the South Pacific. From Palau to Easter Island, the
itinerary spans the Trobriand Islands, Fiji, Tonga and Bora Bora. Guests can
look forward to encounters with vibrant marine life, rare bird species, and
unique Indigenous cultures. Zodiac excursions lead to remote beaches and
untouched jungle landscapes.
