Two icons of world travel — Holland America Line and Pan
American World Airways (Pan Am®) — have joined forces to launch a truly unique
voyage: the 28-Day Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage, tracing the
original “flying boat” Clipper routes that once defined the glamour and
sophistication of early aviation.
Departing October 30, 2027, from Miami, Florida — Pan
Am’s historic home base — the Zuiderdam will sail along Pan Am’s Great Circle
Route, calling at 18 ports of call across the Caribbean, Mexico, and Latin
America. Nearly half of these ports were featured on Pan Am’s original routes.
The journey blends nostalgia, heritage, and discovery, inviting guests to
relive the elegance of travel’s golden age while experiencing modern comfort
and service.
Paul Grigsby, Vice President of Itinerary Planning and
Deployment at Holland America Line, said:
“Pan Am and Holland America Line both helped pioneer
modern travel — one in the skies, the other at sea. This collaboration is a
tribute to the golden age of travel and the enduring human desire to explore.
Guests will rediscover destinations that shaped aviation history while savoring
the refined experience that defines a truly legendary voyage.”
A voyage through time and heritage
The Zuiderdam begins its journey with calls in Nassau,
Bahamas, one of Pan Am’s earliest routes, followed by visits to San Juan
(Puerto Rico), Willemstad (Curaçao), Port of Spain (Trinidad & Tobago), St.
John’s (Antigua), and more. Each destination captures a piece of Pan Am’s
pioneering spirit and the cultural richness of the region.
Craig Carter, CEO of Pan American World Airways,
added:
“Pan Am’s Clippers were the ‘ships of the air,’
combining innovation with elegance. Passengers dined on fine china and
socialized in lounges as they crossed oceans. This partnership with Holland
America Line revives that sense of grandeur — 100 years after our first flight
— bringing the magic of the Clipper experience back to life at sea.”
Where Clippers once soared
Guests will visit nine original Pan Am destinations,
including Miami, Nassau, San Juan, Charlotte Amalie, St. John’s, Castries, Port
of Spain, Colón, and Progreso (Mérida) — ports that reflect the airline’s
transformative influence on modern travel and tourism.
Honoring America’s 250th Anniversary
This special voyage is part of Holland America Line’s
America 250 Celebration, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United
States. Other initiatives include a July 4, 2026, commemorative cruise from
Boston and collaborations with iconic American brands that celebrate innovation
and national heritage.
Kacy Cole, Chief Marketing Officer at Holland America
Line, said:
“Pan Am is an American icon, and this partnership
reflects our shared legacy of exploration and excellence. As we celebrate 250
years of American ingenuity, we’re proud to partner with brands that have
helped shape the nation’s travel story.”
