Hilton (NYSE: HLT) has surpassed a major milestone
with the opening of Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan, celebrating 888 operating
hotels across Greater China and Mongolia. The company now stands as the largest
and fastest-growing international hospitality group in the region, with plans
to double its portfolio in the coming years.
A milestone of luxury expansion
The debut of Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan makes
Shanghai the third city worldwide to host two Waldorf Astoria hotels, joining
Dubai and Doha. The new property, located in the Qiantan District of Pudong,
offers 204 rooms and suites with panoramic river views and private balconies.
Guests can enjoy a rich dining portfolio, from Mediterranean-inspired cuisine
at Arame and Michelin-starred Min cuisine at Fu Cheng, to an exclusive chef’s
table at the Starlight Room and the brand’s signature Peacock Alley.
Accelerating growth across China
Hilton has grown its footprint nearly tenfold since
opening its first hotel in Mainland China in 1988. The company’s development
pipeline now includes several high-profile luxury and lifestyle projects, among
them:
·
Waldorf Astoria Shenzhen (2028) – redefining luxury in the Shenzhen Bay
Super Headquarters Base
·
LXR Hotels & Resorts Tianjin (2029) – celebrating the city’s
East-meets-West heritage
·
Conrad Zhoushan (2028) – offering sea views near sacred Putuo Mountain
·
Hyssan Hotel Quanzhou, Curio Collection by Hilton (2026) – inspired by
the Maritime Silk Road
·
Curio Collection Shanghai Yuqiao (2026) – Hilton’s first Curio hotel in
Shanghai
Commitment to China’s travel future
“Reaching 888 hotels in China is a powerful symbol of
Hilton’s deep-rooted commitment to this dynamic market,” said Alan Watts,
President, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “Our plans to double our presence reflect our
confidence in the growth of travel and experiences in China.”
Qian Jin, President of Greater China and Mongolia,
added: “Having two Waldorf Astoria icons in Shanghai reflects the strength of
China’s hospitality landscape. Our expansion across all segments — from luxury
to focused service — is driven by a long-term vision to fill the earth with the
light and warmth of hospitality.”
A cornerstone of opportunity
Hilton now operates 11 brands in over 280 destinations
across China, employing more than 70,000 team members. The company continues to
expand its Hilton Honors loyalty program, connecting millions of travelers with
tailored experiences and benefits.
With bold development plans and record momentum,
Hilton is poised to enter a new era of growth — one where Chinese innovation,
global luxury, and heartfelt hospitality meet.
