Eurowings has added the Jordanian capital Amman to its
growing route network. The inaugural flight EW2994, a fully booked Airbus A320,
departed Stuttgart Airport at 7:49 a.m. and landed at Queen Alia International
Airport (QAIA) at 1:30 p.m. local time, where it was welcomed with a
traditional water salute by the airport fire brigade — marking Eurowings’
first-ever landing in Jordan.
Passengers from southern Germany can now travel non-stop
to Amman twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, with both outbound and return
flights scheduled at convenient daytime hours.
“Bringing southern Germany closer to Jordan”
“We are delighted about the successful launch of our
new connection to Amman,” said Reinald Frankewitz, Head of Airport &
Network Relations at Eurowings. “This expansion strengthens our medium-haul
portfolio and brings the fascinating travel destination of Jordan much closer
to travelers from southern Germany. Amman, with more than 9,000 years of history,
combines ancient culture with a vibrant modern lifestyle and legendary
hospitality. We are confident that Jordan will attract many new fans thanks to
its easy accessibility and the excellent cooperation with our partners in
Amman.”
Jordan – a land of timeless diversity
From the lively capital Amman to the ancient rock city
of Petra, the dramatic desert landscapes of Wadi Rum, the crystal-clear waters
of the Red Sea, and the mineral-rich shores of the Dead Sea – Jordan offers
travelers an extraordinary variety of natural and cultural treasures. Its
unique blend of heritage and adventure continues to inspire visitors from all
over the world.
Strengthening tourism ties between Germany and Jordan
Commenting on the new route, Dr. Emad Hijazeen,
Jordan’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, said:
“Enhancing air connectivity remains at the heart of
our tourism growth strategy. Germany is the largest outbound tourism market in
the European Union, and the launch of this new Eurowings route from Stuttgart
to Amman strengthens the bridges between our two countries. This connection
will not only make Jordan more accessible to travelers from southern Germany
but also open new opportunities for cultural exchange, business travel and
tourism development.”
Dr. Abed Al-Razzaq Arabiyat, Managing Director of the
Jordan Tourism Board, added:
“Germany continues to be one of Jordan’s most
important feeder markets, contributing significantly to our rising visitor
numbers. The launch of this new Eurowings route further enhances our presence
in the German market and supports our efforts to make Jordan more accessible to
travelers across Europe. This step reflects our strong partnership with
Eurowings and reaffirms Jordan’s position as a key destination for cultural
discovery, adventure and authentic experiences.”
With this new connection, Eurowings strengthens
Stuttgart Airport’s role as a key gateway for travelers seeking unique
destinations – and brings the warmth and wonder of Jordan just a few hours’
flight away.
