Delta TechOps and LATAM Airlines Brasil expand A320 component repair collaboration

Delta TechOps and LATAM Airlines Brasil have launched a new collaboration for Airbus A320 component repair services, designed to support Delta’s fleet and meet growing demand from third-party airline customers. The agreement expands Delta TechOps’ global maintenance network and integrates additional repair capabilities through LATAM’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations in Brazil.

Under the partnership, Delta TechOps will serve as the sole commercial interface for an initial portfolio of A320 component repair services. The technical work will be supported by LATAM’s MRO facility in São Carlos, one of the largest and most experienced aircraft maintenance operations in Latin America. The service portfolio is expected to expand over time as both companies deepen their cooperation.

Single access point for airline customers

The new structure gives airline customers a single point of contact through Delta TechOps while benefiting from expanded repair capacity at LATAM’s facility. Engineering standards and quality oversight remain under Delta TechOps’ supervision, while LATAM contributes its operational expertise and infrastructure.

The initiative builds on a long-standing technical relationship between the two companies and reflects their shared strategy to support airlines as demand for Airbus A320 maintenance services continues to grow worldwide.

“Expanding our commercial relationship with LATAM Brasil allows us to leverage our complementary strengths and broaden the maintenance solutions available for global customers,” said Alain Bellemare, President – International, Delta Air Lines and Chairman of Delta TechOps. “With fleet growth accelerating across our industry, TechOps is committed to meeting customer demand for high-quality component repair customer demand responsibly, including leveraging partnerships that uphold our rigorous standards while delivering long-term value for Delta and our customers.”

Partnership built on long technical cooperation

Delta TechOps, North America’s largest MRO provider, has supported the LATAM Group for many years with engine and component repair services. The new agreement deepens that relationship and extends the partnership beyond the existing joint venture between the two airlines.

“This agreement with Delta marks an important step in strengthening LATAM Airlines Brasil’s maintenance capabilities and expanding the role of our São Carlos facility, the LATAM MRO, as a leading MRO center in Latin America. It reinforces our ambition to establish the region as a strategic hub for aviation maintenance, engineering expertise, and innovation,” said Jerome Cadier, CEO of LATAM Airlines Brasil.

Growing global demand for A320 maintenance

The Airbus A320 family is one of the most widely used narrowbody aircraft types in the world, with more than 12,000 aircraft currently in service. Delta operates a large A320 family fleet, including A319, A320 and A321 aircraft, which play a key role in its domestic and short-haul international network.

LATAM also operates one of the largest Airbus A320 fleets in Latin America, giving its maintenance teams extensive technical experience with the aircraft type. Combining this expertise with Delta TechOps’ global support network aims to strengthen the partnership’s ability to meet growing demand for A320 component repair services.

São Carlos facility as regional maintenance hub

The agreement is subject to regulatory approval in Brazil. If approved, implementation is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026, starting with a phased transition of selected Delta A320 components to LATAM’s repair facility in São Carlos.

Opened in 2001 in the state of São Paulo, the São Carlos MRO complex is one of the largest aerospace maintenance centers in Latin America. The 95,000-square-meter facility employs around 2,400 specialists and includes nine hangars and 22 specialized workshops. It can support up to 16 aircraft simultaneously and holds certifications from international aviation authorities including EASA, FAA and DGAC.

In recent years, the facility has expanded its capabilities and increased its focus on digitalization, operational efficiency and decarbonization initiatives while also strengthening its services for third-party airline customers.
