Delta Air Lines is celebrating 25 years of operations
in Argentina, marking a milestone that underscores the airline’s long-term
presence in the country and its role in linking Argentina with the United
States and the wider global network. Since launching service in 2000, the
airline has grown alongside Argentina’s aviation market while supporting
tourism, business travel and cultural exchange.
Over the past quarter century, Delta has established
itself as a consistent partner in the region, building relationships with local
teams, industry partners and travelers. The anniversary highlights the
airline’s evolution from a single route to a stable presence within its broader
Latin America strategy.
A quarter century shaped by partnership and growth
Delta’s presence in Argentina began with a single
connection and gradually expanded into a long-term operation grounded in
collaboration and trust. The airline considers Argentina an important part of
its Latin American network, reflecting a strategy focused on sustained
connectivity and cooperation.
“Seeing how Delta has grown alongside Argentina over
these 25 years fills me with pride, both professionally and personally,” said
Luciano Macagno, managing director for Latin America at Delta Air Lines.
“Argentina is not just a market for Delta. It is part of our history and our
present. None of this would be possible without the trust of our customers, the
support of our partners and the commitment of our local teams.”
Multiple gateways connect Argentina with the global
network
Today Delta operates daily nonstop flights between
Atlanta and Buenos Aires, complemented by seasonal nonstop service linking New
York–JFK with the Argentine capital. These routes provide travelers with access
to Delta’s extensive international network.
Through the Delta–LATAM joint venture, passengers
departing from Argentina can now connect to more than 200 destinations across
the United States and Canada. Argentina joined this cooperation framework in
2025, significantly expanding travel options for customers in the region.
“Over these 25 years, Delta has grown not only in
routes and passengers, but also in long-term relationships and shared purpose
with our customers and strategic partners,” said Gabriela Cioccia, regional
sales manager for Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
The importance of aviation links between Argentina and
the United States has also been highlighted by U.S. Ambassador to Argentina
Peter Lamelas, who emphasized the role of air connectivity in strengthening
economic ties, cultural exchange and people-to-people relations between the two
countries.
Industry partners and employees celebrate the
milestone
To mark the anniversary, Delta recently hosted an
event in Buenos Aires bringing together employees, industry partners and
aviation stakeholders. The gathering served to recognize the partnerships and
cooperation that have shaped the airline’s presence in the country over the
past 25 years.
People remain central to Delta’s presence
Behind the airline’s long history in Argentina stands
a network of local teams who support operations, partnerships and customer
service. These employees play a key role in maintaining Delta’s presence in the
market and reinforcing its reputation for reliability.
Looking ahead
As Delta marks its 25-year anniversary in Argentina,
the milestone reflects both the airline’s progress and its long-term commitment
to the country. The company intends to continue strengthening its partnerships
and expanding travel opportunities while maintaining Argentina as an important
link within its global network.
