Three years after forming their joint venture, Delta
Air Lines and the LATAM Airlines Group celebrate a milestone in
transcontinental cooperation. Since the partnership’s launch in 2022, the
airlines have increased their combined capacity by 88% (measured in available
seat kilometers, ASKs), introduced nine new routes, and transported 14.5
million passengers between North and South America.
Expanding connections across the Americas
Among the most notable achievements in the third year
of the alliance is the addition of Argentina to the joint venture’s South
American network and the introduction of new routes such as Lima–Orlando, Buenos
Aires–Miami, Guayaquil–New York, and Lima–Salt Lake City.
“Our agreement with LATAM is more than just
connectivity: it’s about creating a travel experience customers love — with
more destinations, more benefits, and more reasons to choose Delta and LATAM,”
said Alex Antilla, Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean at Delta
Air Lines. “Through this joint venture, we’re not only bringing regions closer
together but also setting a new standard for innovation and customer
experience.”
A growing network of gateways
With Atlanta (ATL), Boston (BOS), Los Angeles (LAX), Miami
(MIA), New York (JFK), Orlando (MCO) and Salt Lake City (SLC) serving as North
American hubs, and Bogotá (BOG), Cartagena (CTG), Fortaleza (FOR), Lima (LIM), Quito
(UIO), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), Santiago (SCL), São Paulo (GRU) and Buenos Aires
(EZE) as major South American gateways, the Delta–LATAM joint venture now
operates 30 direct routes connecting key cities across both continents.
“The capacity growth, combined with Delta’s 200-plus
destinations in the U.S. and Canada and LATAM’s 130-plus destinations in South
America, means our joint venture plays a fundamental role in linking the
region,” said Soledad Berrios, Director of Strategic Alliances at the LATAM
Group. “Together, we offer the most extensive and diverse network of
destinations and travel options across the Americas.”
Enhanced benefits for travelers
Passengers now enjoy integrated advantages across both
airlines’ networks — including shared mileage and points accrual in frequent
flyer programs, and access to more than 53 Delta Sky Clubs in the U.S. and six
LATAM lounges in major Latin American cities such as Santiago, Buenos Aires,
São Paulo, Bogotá, Lima, and Miami.
Elite members of Delta SkyMiles and LATAM Pass receive
reciprocal benefits such as priority check-in, boarding, and baggage handling,
ensuring a seamless travel experience across the joint network.
Cargo operations and digital innovation
Beyond passenger traffic, the joint venture has driven
significant growth in air cargo. Since 2022, combined tonnage carried by Delta
and LATAM has risen by 356%, reaching 2,093 tons so far in 2025. Both airlines
have also integrated digital tracking systems (e-tracking) and standardized key
cargo products, ensuring greater reliability and consistency throughout the
joint venture network.
Looking ahead
Delta and LATAM plan to continue expanding within the
joint venture’s geography, developing new routes and services, and enhancing
opportunities for travelers and communities throughout the Americas.
