Delta Air Lines and Airbnb are broadening their
existing loyalty partnership, giving Delta SkyMiles Members additional ways to
collect miles throughout their journeys. In addition to Airbnb Homes, members
can now also earn miles on qualifying Airbnb Experiences and Services,
extending loyalty benefits beyond flights and accommodation.
The expanded cooperation reflects changing travel
habits, with travelers increasingly prioritising experiences over material
purchases. According to Delta, nearly two-thirds of U.S. travellers say they
would rather spend money on memorable experiences than on physical goods.
More earning opportunities across the entire trip
Members who connect their Delta SkyMiles and Airbnb
accounts via deltaairbnb.com can now earn one mile per US dollar spent on
qualifying Airbnb Homes. For qualifying Airbnb Experiences and Services, the
earning rate increases to three miles per US dollar.
Taxes, discounts, incentives and additional fees are
excluded from mileage calculations. Bookings must be completed within ten days
after activating the booking window through account linking.
“Delta and Airbnb both understand that travel doesn't
start or end at the airport,” said Dwight James, Senior Vice President –
Customer Engagement & Loyalty for Delta Air Lines and CEO of Delta
Vacations. “By expanding how SkyMiles Members earn miles with Airbnb — from
where they stay to what they do once they arrive — we continue to extend the
value of SkyMiles beyond the flight and give Members more ways to turn
memorable travel experiences into future trips.”
Improved booking flow and mileage visibility
Alongside the expanded earning structure, Delta and
Airbnb have also updated the booking process to simplify travel planning and
improve transparency for users.
Once accounts are connected, travellers can see an
estimated number of miles directly within the Airbnb platform before completing
a booking. According to the companies, this feature is designed to help members
better evaluate and plan their trips.
The integration applies to qualifying Airbnb listings
and remains active during a ten-day booking window. Users can reconnect their
accounts later to reactivate eligibility for future bookings.
Focus on experience-driven travel
For Airbnb, the expanded partnership strengthens the
platform’s positioning within experience-focused travel. The company sees
loyalty integration as a way to create additional value for guests while
encouraging repeat travel.
“At Airbnb, we’re focused on creating more value for
our community. With Delta, the fit is clear. Now, every stay can go further —
giving guests the ability to earn Delta miles toward their next trip,” said
Dave Stephenson, Chief Business Officer at Airbnb. “By combining Delta's
loyalty program with Airbnb’s global platform, we’re making travel more
rewarding. Every trip can now help power the next one.”
Loyalty programmes remain important for travel
decisions
The expanded cooperation between Delta and Airbnb
highlights the growing importance of loyalty ecosystems within the travel
industry. Airlines, accommodation providers and travel platforms are
increasingly linking their services in order to keep travellers within
connected booking environments and offer incentives throughout the entire
travel experience.
For international travellers, including customers from
Europe and Germany, integrated loyalty models are becoming an increasingly
relevant factor when comparing travel offers, accommodation options and
ancillary services.
