The
lifestyle brand ananea continues its journey of expansion, extending its
footprint into two new countries. Since the beginning of August, the collection
now includes ananea Hurghada in Egypt and ananea Castelo Suites Algarve in
Portugal. Both properties are the brand’s first in their respective
destinations, with further openings still to come this year in Zanzibar, the
Maldives and Thailand.
Italy,
Egypt, Portugal – three new openings in 2025
As
announced last summer, ananea has already welcomed three new or newly
refurbished houses to its portfolio in 2025. The ananea Tropea Yachting Resort
in Calabria, Italy, reopened after a full renovation with 12 new suites and a
contemporary industrial look. With Hurghada and the Algarve, ananea now sets
its first accents in North Africa and Southern Europe.

Hurghada – Egyptian “slow glamour” on the Red Sea
Since
1 August 2025, ananea Hurghada has been receiving its first guests. The
adults-only hideaway with 114 rooms lies tucked into a quiet bay with fine sand
and direct sea access. Three restaurants offer a variety of culinary moods: an
airy buffet terrace, an à-la-carte dining room, and a fish restaurant
overlooking the marina. Four bars — from poolside to beach — frame days of
leisure and evenings of conviviality.
A
freshwater pool, gardens, yoga and wellness treatments provide calm between
city explorations. Only two kilometres away lies the heart of Hurghada with its
old quarter El Dahar, its bazaar and mosques, while the marina invites guests
to stroll between boutiques and cafés. The airport is a short 13-kilometre
drive.
Design
in harmony with the landscape
The
hotel’s clear architecture is dressed in earthy tones — ochre, terracotta, sand
beige — echoing the desert and shoreline. These hues continue indoors, where
woven baskets, ceramics and rugs add texture and warmth. Outdoors, traditional
henna wood shades and bamboo structures shape terraces and balconies. By
combining local craftsmanship with modern lines, the hotel translates ananea’s
philosophy of “slow glamour” into a contemporary Egyptian key.
Egypt
remains one of DERTOUR’s most beloved destinations year-round, a land of
ancient treasures, sun-drenched coastlines and world-renowned diving reefs.
With ananea, Sentido, Aldiana and Calimera, the group now counts eight houses
in Hurghada and Marsa Alam — each open to travellers in every season.

Castelo Suites Algarve – where coast and culture meet
On
3 August, Portugal welcomed its first ananea with the opening of Castelo Suites
Algarve in Sesmarias, near Albufeira. In a quiet neighbourhood close to Praia
do Castelo and Praia do Evaristo, the hotel offers 146 rooms designed for solo
travellers, couples and families alike. Its showpiece is the rooftop infinity
pool (16+), with views sweeping across the coast to the Monchique mountains. A
second pool and sun terrace offer more tranquil retreats, while dining ranges
from a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant to a snack bar and two additional
bars.
Portuguese
tradition with a contemporary touch
Every
detail of the property reflects the Algarve’s heritage. The curved façade
recalls the region’s rugged cliffs, while stone and wood, textiles and natural
finishes honour local craftsmanship. The palette — greens, earthy browns, soft
greys — mirrors the surrounding forests, olive groves and mountains. The result
is a serene yet powerful atmosphere, blending tradition and modern design.
The
hotel is a perfect base for exploration: Albufeira’s old town and lively
Newtown lie just four kilometres away, while the Monchique mountains invite
long hikes and the coastline lends itself to leisurely bike rides.
Karl
J. Pojer, CEO of DERTOUR Group Hotel Division, said:
“I
am delighted that we have been able to open our lifestyle brand ananea in two
new countries. We place great value on offering our guests a diverse range of
high-quality accommodation in popular destinations. With the introduction of
ananea in Egypt and Portugal, we strengthen our promise to continue growing
with DERTOUR Hotels & Resorts and to offer concepts that cater to different
tastes and travel needs.”
Christian
Grage, Managing Director DERTOUR Hotels & Resorts, added:
“We
have continuously advanced the development of our lifestyle brand ananea. I am
proud that in Egypt — a holiday destination very popular with our guests — we
can now complement our brands Sentido, Aldiana and Calimera with ananea. Our
new lifestyle property is a wonderful enrichment for the region and for our
guests.”
